DrBonesNurseAmy 100 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 Hey preppers, I'm often asked what pharmaceuticals should be stored for dealing with infection. Here's my latest article on the subject: http://doctorbonesandamyshow.blogspot.com/2012/02/must-have-antibiotics-antifungals-and.html This is a companion to my OTC drug list, and don't forget about natural products with medicinal benefits. I list a number of antibiotics and you don't have to have every one on the list. What would you add? Dr. Bones

DrBonesNurseAmy 100 Report post Posted February 13, 2012 Hi Dave, You can buy them direct from the vet pharmacies for less, i think the doctor who sells you them on the site you mention includes a charge for 'evaluating' you, which I don't know how he can do on a computer... Partsman 25 Report post Posted June 19, 2012 Have any of you checked out JeffersPet.com? These guys have stuff for all sorts of animals dogs, cats, horses etc. They are local to me but will ship all over. A lot of the stuff could be repurposed in an emergency I would think. Maybe, Doc or Nurse Amy will check them out and offer us a few suggestions.

Partsman 25 Report post Posted September 5, 2012 I would like to know what you all think of coloidal silver solutions as far as anti viral usage. I have read a bit about it and know that you can even purchase equipment to make your own. Would this be a good way to go?

DrBonesNurseAmy 100 Report post Posted September 20, 2012 Colloidal Silver has its share of enthusiasts and detractors. Silver was used as an antibiotic topically before the development of pharmaceutical antibiotics, and is effective externally to prevent wound infections. Internally, silver particles show promise, but my concern about silver ions is that they are charged, and charged particles want a partner. In our bodies, NA CL (Sodium Chloride or salt) readily gives up a CL to make Silver Chloride, which is chemically inert and, therefore, should have no medicinal effect? NavyVet_77 13 Report post Posted September 20, 2012 I suggest everyone check out this video from 'thepatriotnurse' about antibiotics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOfthwm_v3E&NR=1&feature=fvwp Check out this site for 'pet' antibiotics. Ive personally used the Amox. with great results, with the practice of minimal/reduced dosage.
