MRE Advice

Recommended Posts

Finally ordered Wornick Brand Eversafe MRE from Long Life Foods. Should get them soon and will let you folks know how they are once I try one. For the money they seemed like the best option and the best menus for me and the lady. I also ordered some of the Bridgford non-meat sandwiches for the heck of it.

I ate nothing but MRE's for about four months until we started getting produce and critters to butcher on the local economy. You have to drink about twice the usual amount of water if you don't want them to bind you up, and after about two weeks your body adjusts and you can start ejecting with comfort and regularity again. I asked a Doc about the gum being a laxative while i was back at the FOB picking up a LOGPAC, he laughed and assured me it wasn't.

Have noticed at a few of the gunshows I have been to that military mres are available. I n the past I have bought a few cases of these. In some cases they were fine in others not so much. I could not read the date codes on them so I didn't know how old they were. I did the sniff and taste method on a few and found that the main courses were always o.k. but some of the other things like crackers and bread type products were not. I ate a few of them and had no ill effects. Does any one know how to read the code dates?

MRE Info has a page about how to read the code dates. http://www.mreinfo.com/us/mre/mre-date-codes.html Here's an excerpt from their site"Sometimes you'll have a nice date packed such "03/09/01" which you know to mean March 9, 2001. However, some cases will use a different form such as "1068". In this case, the first number "1" stands for the year (2001) and the next three numbers indicate which day of the year (365 days in a year) it was packed. So "068" would be day 68 of the year 2001...or March 9, 2001."

MRE military radical enema

that is why I prep so I have food fit to eat otherwise I'll wait for the gov to air drop MRE's

and pray a whole pallet lands on me be more merciful than having to eat them.

I liked K and C rations better the only thing I like in the MRE's is the pop tart and the

freeze dried fruit the rest it for baiting my traps.

Snake,

Did you really like the ham and lima beans? Really?

hi all

this is not MRE's but you may want to check it out.look for it under survival tabs,or food tabs.have minium of 10 years plus shelf life.also a month supply just a few pounds.but they have no fiber,so add a couple pounds of chia seeds.around 5# would last a month.with tabs & seedshave al nutrients.i also carry fish oil, chicken & beef broth cubes, and tea bags.
