P210SIG 782 Report post Posted June 2, 2013 A project that i'll be working on very soon. When the solar panels & the wind turbine stop working. It's something to fall back on, just in case. I truly think every family should make one to have as part of their survival item, in their BOL or Bug in location. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=6l1sSwuRkm4#t=1138s If your not " Physically Fit ", then your just Food for the Zombies.LOL. juzcallmesnake 1,514 Report post Posted June 13, 2013 Partsman thanks for the site link this is a great topic and everyone needs an alternative power source not predicated on wind solar or water as a power source completely in fact having a few alternatives is better than putting your eggs all in one basket and the fun thing is you can use them NOW to run lights in a barn or out building and have power to run a drill or other small things for a short period of time depending on battery bank size. having a wind and hand crank or bicycle powered to augment your gas or diesel generator is reasonable in my mind these new natural gas powered whole home generator systems are fine as long as nat gas is available but if for some reason a line is broken or damage to the unit etc. as long as you have a fan and light and a way to heat your in good shape. in a single room a coleman lantern and some candles or oil lamps produce enough heat to warm a fan can circulate the heat or in summer a fan can cool you with minimal electrical use when we use these you must realize that it is an emergency and you cannot expect to run your dryer or central air unit.
