Sorry wally that was a run on sentance I am not a english major.....

BUT I found you can salt lemons and I wanted to try it it is used in Morrocan cooking as well as other cultures

it is another way of preserving citrus fruit juice as I use it as a dip for dehydrating this has salt and citric acid to prevent

mold and color loss it also can be used as a codiment for fish in fact it is used in making worstishire sauce.

yea I don't think salted peaches would taste too good IMO.

With the wacky weather that I've  been getting in my area lately.

I decided to make room in my basement to install a hydro-phonic system later next month.

Hoping this will increase my food production for my family & military buddies in my group.

Perfected my jerky recipe, now have two dehydrators just for jerky, one is in use five days a week. taught grandkids the recipe and teaching them how to jerk meat, they actually enjoy doing it.

Harvested scads of raspberries(which I don't really like) but the Fam does, jam is neing made tonight out of it.

a friend gave me a couple pounds of Varget and got some extra loading tools extras of what I have already

I have 3 different scales one BPI electronic an rcbs and a lee most of the load manuals and all the PDF freebies

on the net and 3 ways to prime cases a ram prime for a press a hand primer and progressive that has a priming arm.

What I am tring to get across if you can have multiple ways to acomplish any task it's a pain to get started and have to quit

or having to wait until it comes in the mail or you have to drive all over town to find the "SPECFIC" tool that is made in

some other state so if the SHTF your S.O.L..

in conversations over the last few month I see even less if that is possible of certain calibers of rifle brass and some shotgun reloading

components if all the companies are running at full capacity then where is all this stuff? if your a nato caliber ( diameters) person your OK

223, 30 cal 9MM 38 cal  I noticed some bullet designs have been dropped or not in production at this time.I am wondering if many companies

took advantage and looked at sales data and killed off certain lines that were not as profitable but that leaves us who were devoted to

certain weights base and nose types may be for all time out of production I am hoping that new niches will be created but when I think it will take

a long time as the military segemt is the money machine and as far as I have learned it is going full bore to supply all those countries that do not

or unable to manufacture their own and that is considerable tonnage to compete with China and Russia's foreign aid packages.

so stock up now IMHO.

The blackberry well has run dry as far as I can figure ended up with 10 1 gallon freezer bags now time to make jelly.

before the grapes and figs come on this yer should have 4 X the grapes and probably 20% more figs another tree has

started producing and the main tree has gotten bigger (need to get out the big ladder)

next year I am rooting all the blackberries I can I already have planted 3 more grape vines and have air layered a few for

new plants.

I am looking for passive plants that need little day to day interaction like constant weeding wattering and pest control.

still trying to get the lemons to bulk up they are going to take some time to fill out but at least they are producing.

At Wally world they have some orange plastic waterproof match safes. They come with matches and a striking surface inside. The bottom has a little bitty ferocerrium rod on it. While there I picked up a little roll of single strand jute cord. Roll up some of the cord to put in the box with the matches and you have all you need to build a fire.

When jute is unraveled to make a little nest it is almost like gasoline. I can easily start it with the little sparker on the bottom saving the matches for seriously hard times when I want fire right NOW.

Take a second one and fill it with a fishing kit and snare wire and you are good to go.

Sir Snake, if you catch this thread, would you mind posting a thread on the PROPER methodology to sharpen yourn knives, including the glass honing block you've mentioned. I must have forgotten ALL of my Boy Scout training, because my knives and hatchets, axes are "sharp", but not razor sharp....yet.

Thanks, sure would appreciate it.(yeah I like 'em shaving sharp at least-NOT the axes or hatchets though)
