Mudbass7 10 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 so due to the current political climate, i decided to finally go out and buy me a 1911. I decided on the Rock Island Armory 1911 tactical due to price ($530) and the great reviews i've found for it. So now i need magazines. there seems to be a large amount of 1911 magazine manufacturers so i was just wondering what brands have you guys found to be of good quality?? are all magazines interchangeable? juzcallmesnake 1,514 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Wilson mags are the best you might consider a magazine lip forming tool from Brownell's in a semi pistol most problems are from feeding or ejection get an extra ejector even new they may need to be "tuned" brass ejected needs to drop in the same area not fly willie nillie everywhere. 7 extra mags ought to do it. I do not know how familiar you are with the colt or it's clones but there are gunsmithing books that can help if or any problems occur. might consider reloading and having a bullet mold in 200 grain TC and 230 grain ball powders like Unique and Blue dot are great if you load shot shells blue dot works on both well... shot out calibers based off the 30-06 cartridge can e cut and reamed to make 45 ACP. wish you luck and have a good time with it, it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on, well I have shot mine butt naked in the old driveway but it was still fun. P210SIG 782 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 I like the Chip Mc Cormick mags for my 1911's . Never had an issue with them. They make them in 8rd mags & 10rd mags as well. Got rid of my 7rd mags & now use the 10rd mags all the time & are stainless steel.

juzcallmesnake 1,514 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 the 1911 standard mags {7 round } may not be a ban thing so prices may loosen up in a few months.
