the surefire story.

Recommended Posts

the only thing that holds me back from the tech lights are the short battery life.

I was concerned about this as well when I first got the E2D Defender, but being former military and using it on my last 8 month deployment and not having to change out the first original battery I put in it since, that reassured me that the battery life for a flashlight that distributes such a high amount of Lumen's is definitely worth the price tag.

Don't get me wrong, SureFire is a great "torch" maker, but the price tags are a bit steep alot of the time. Some alternative's to SureFire are Fenix and Streamlight, both make equally powerful flash lights as SureFire doe's but without destroying the wallet. There's other good brands out there too, those are just a few examples.

lol i see that. ok in your opinion which has the best lum but longer lasting battery life.

one of the lights mentioned above had 1.7 hr of battery life. thats not gonna cut it

and in my book a poor choice of light for a BOB. (requires more batteries to get the same times as normal lights)

I carry a SureFire L1 daily and change the 1 CR123A once a month, sometimes a bit longer.

I have a G2X Pro in my EDC bag, on the low setting (15 lumens) it will run for 45 hours, on high (200) it will run for 2 hours (regulated output). That is a good light to put in a BOB.

I did a review of the G2X Pro, read it on Survival Cache here: http://survivalcache.com/survival-gear-review-surefire-g2x-pro/

Oh, and don't cheap out on batteries. I used to buy Chinese batteries for like a $1.25 to try and save some money. Bad idea. Not only are they dangerous, but they just don't perform.

Read the SureFire Battery FAQ: http://www.surefire.com/BatteryFAQs

Since I started using quality batteries, my runtimes have improved greatly and I've had no trouble with stored batteries. Pay once and cry once.

4Sevens is another great brand. I have the Quark Minix 123 and love it. The olny issue is the small ring I use to attach it to my ke ring bent badly. I need to find a replacement for it, but its not been easy to find one so small. The battery life seems low, but owned it for months and have only changed the batteries once. I usually don't run it on high unless I need or want to.

Mr.Smashy - cool review. Its what made me regret ever buying streamlight.

I have a few of them and they dont last. I go threw batteries over and over! Then I feel like its the bulb when its not, but its in my head it is... I let me kids play with them and they put it upside down and left it on and it started a fire burned a hole in the hardwood floors and made a scene in the house with the wife.

Im buying myself a surefire for xmas. fuck that!!!

Just an FYI, Surefire's get just as hot as what you described here, they could definitely do the same thing.

Suggest you check out a fishing supply store.....look for the packs of rings they use to attach hooks to lures. Should have something you could use particularly in the salt water section.

    • Hey all, This is sort of cool (okay really cool) and maybe some of you have heard about it because it's been plastered over FOX and mentioned by POTUS as well as other conservative-leaning news people (Huckabee, Diamond/Silk, Candace Owens, Mark Levin, etc..) and politicians. #walkaway is a movement based mostly on social media. Started last year, by Brandon Straka (pronounced Strawk - like "straw" with a "k"). He's a former 2016 HRC-voting hair stylist, from NE, now in NYC, homosexual, liberal who began to question the MSM and what he was hearing. He got really frustrated as he began to do his own research. Anyway, after having his own awakening to the lies of MSM he had been following, he began an online testimonial campaign in which former liberals can post their #walkaway stories, written or video. Many are now on the "Trump Train." Many have simply left the Left. Still, others have always been non-Left and are members in support. The amazing thing is how many different people from all walks of life are beginning to wake up. Lots are not conservative on all issues, but all have a love for the USA and dislike the demonization of open political and social thinkers and speakers. This group gives solace to people scared to voice their conservative opinions or views for fear of negative professional or personal responses. It now has budding smaller groups in all 50 states and an online discussion group where people discuss current topics or issues (WITH no vitriol, gasp).  Here's the original video from Brandon.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=51UGcghHZsk This man, Brandon has a unique, stylish, well-articulated voice to help move people "in hiding" out into the open and not be silenced. Pretty much any video Brandon does is great. Here is the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/groups/OFFICIALwalkawaycampaign/ As I see fights erupt online, I simply leave #walkaway in the comments. Brandon has a goal of 1 million members! The liberal media has called this campaign "Russian Bots" and "paid actors." It's not!!!
    • thanks to all who  have served or are serving our great country....243 years in the making....   Trump did a good job today thanking each branch of our military and a long time coming salute to the coast guard too....
    • I can imagine food prices going up this Fall or Winter. Corn is used for live stock feed, & us humans consume a lot of corn based products, as well as corn based biofuel. I’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the mid-west of America, which is flooded by water. Where corn  & other crops are normally grown there. Farmers are quite worried about this years growing season. Time to stock up on extra food if you can, if you haven’t already. Stack it high, stack it deep. Store the foods that you normally eat. What ever the  amount of food you’ve stored,  try to double it if possible. Better extra safe, than sorry.
