Horrible tradgedy. However, the anti gun folks are attacking indeed. So much news inceases copy cat crimes.

Meanwhile in China yesterday 18 students were attacked with a knife, a few months ago a chinese guy killed 18 people with a knife, etc etc..

Again, (preaching to the choir here), it is the person not the weapon of choice.

The mass media is playing all of these crimes extensively, to forward their anti gun agenda. Personnally I believe the press needs to show some restraint.

ONE thing I learned in a class along time ago was the "feminization of the American male, and the wimpification, as well as broken homes, are leading to this style of "shock value" crimes. Yesterday the lead shrink for the main stream press said that this individual had a "grandiose and entitlement personality". Yep..hhmmm entitlement? And he was from a divorced home. Now that is a statistic that is rearing it's head as well in all of these style of "shock value" crimes.

Why doesn’t he cry for the wife and children of US Border Agent Brian Terry who was murdered by guns sold by the government to known Mexican drug dealers?

And out of respect for the innocent, I will end my comments there.

He didn't say anything about guns, actually. He said, "And we're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics."

Meaningful action could include things like addressing mental health issues, domestic violence, looking for additional ways to secure public spaces, etc. I actually thought it was nice that he DIDN'T immediately jump into a five-point plan for preventing future tragedies, because it's simply NOT THE TIME. It was the right time to say to the victims, "America grieves with you. We are all saddened by what has happened. You are not alone." Which, by the way, is basically what he did.

Yes, I get that you intensely dislike the president and are suspicious of, well, everything he does. But seriously, you think he's so obsessed with your right to bear arms that he ISN'T sad that 20 children died? Or, if he doesn't cry over every tragedy, then he has no human emotions or at least no right to ever show them? I don't cry about everything on the news that is tear-worthy, but I fully admit I sobbed while reading some of the coverage of this situation.

I don't doubt in the weeks to come there will be PLENTY of reason to heap scorn on Obama for whatever it is he does next that enrages you. And since politicians everywhere are already squaring off over the gun debate that will come, I have no doubt that gun policy is part of what Obama alluded to in his speech - and will need to be carefully followed and probably opposed when proposals are actually being made. BUT this speech was about paying respect for lost lives, for innocent children who died and others who live but will never be that innocent again. And the response on this thread kind of sickens me.

Sat12-15-12 you were discussing the shooting in conn. and 2nd amendment , you touched several times on the reports of the shooter being autistic. I sat on hold for an hour and a half to get on air. As a father of five year old twins, one of which is one of my two autistic children, the oldest (17) of them already concerned that his diagnosis will stop him from be able to own firearms and infringe on his 2nd amendment rights. I also have a CCW in the state of MO and have been a strong ambassador for responsible gun ownership in my profession in the home security business here in St Louis for over 17 years now. You discussion today dizzys me with points not made, firstly the second amendment is NOT about militia, it is a guarantee against our goverment no longer serving us in the manner of the english crown, secondly the argument that countries in Europe have lower gun violence due to stricter gun laws do not take in to account for the higher number of stabbings, bludgeonings, strangleings, beatings, pushing off roof tops, etc, this is shown by the school attack in China where you can not absolutely own a gun in which a crazed attacker killed 21 children with a knife, lastly we as honest, logical, thinking individuals can not win this fight against the opportunist anti-gun liberals who are looking to profit from the slaughter of this child to move forward their agenda to free their goverment of the threat of an armed populace, but fortunately for us the are a small bunch of tiny minded…….I can bring myself to call them people…but we can by calm, thoughtful discussion in our daily lives let those who are uninformed and uninvested know the truth, and that hey are being hoodwinked by the media into thinking houghts that are not their own. We can not win this in the media, we Must win this in the streets! Join the NRA It’s only $25 to protect your rights and be counted.

I called on the way home from work today, on hold though traffic, listening to caller after caller in raged that the liberals are tring to use this tragedy for political gain, greasing the wheels of destroying the constitution with the blood of the innocents, so like every day I drove home, hugged my kids( just a little tighter than usual ) put my EDC pistol safely away, and cracked a beer to try to abate the headache from all the bullshit I have had to put up with and the stupidity of the sheeple who are brainwashed by the media and last 40 years of NEA in the schools tell them thatbth views and values of the liberal agenda are facts. I almost hope the Mayans are right so we can go out Americans instead of slaves to the powerful who lead our goverment around like cattle to slaughter!

Gee double D tell us how you really feel LOL

I have come to the conclusion that I do not know what may happen but I'll have it my way, as I always have.

Here is a quote some on the hill ought to get to know they say they are educated but I do not see any evidence of it.

they make the same mistakes as every other ruler from the beginning of time.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, problem is if your a retard like many in government you never learned it or can figure it out, or see it coming {no offense or reference intended to the mentally challenged to all you P.C. turds}

OC,

I always love getting your realistic humanist perspective.

Much of what you said could/would be true if...

1. Obama gave a rats arse about the constitution

2. Obama didn't already have a anti-gun agenda

amen navy, obama want's to set himself up as a king and i can only hope that the people wake up soon!! we are running out of time!!!!!!

Does Obama personally order drone stikes?

Like the ones that have killed 150+ children? Does that go through him or no?

Not likely. The administration implements blanket policies like 'NDAA' then authorises certain organizational entities (DHS) to flex muscle with his blessing.

OC I agree with you in that my first thoughts were for the little ones and the brave teachers. I doubt Obama's game plan changed any....He has always wanted to do away with the rights of the people. The unfortunate part of this is this will play into his plans all too well. It is interesting as one of our fellow members said in a different post .... The Isrealis found a way to protect students.....Test and train the teachers to be able to meet the threat head on. Just as armed pilots, secure hatches and sky marshalls have reduced the danger of flying we can do much the same with the schools. Children are the future .... they must be protected as well as given the training to be able to think for themselves. That is the job given to the school when you or I turn them over to the school for them to get an education. The sad reality is that something like this will happen somewhere at sometime reguardless of what is done. We simply do not have the technology to weed out those who are a danger to themselves and others. Perhaps we need to teach the little ones to love and respect each other .... something that seems to be missing in several generations between mine and the present one.

Very well said Partsman and I agree totally with your closing post. Love and respect left the school systems when they said no more padding (it was boreline child abuse), and when they said no more praying in schools (there went the love) and when they said no more Pledge Of Alligance To The American Flag (there went the respect) I know for a fact that there hardly any respect in this world today and just think whtas it going to be like when our grand kids is our age. You know if these freaks of nature whats to go out and cause all this death why dont they go hit up all these drug houses and drug dealers and rid the earth of that scum.

Well, my 2 cents isn't worth a flip but again I'm going to blame the news media. There's to much news! If it's a breaking story they fill in the blanks with

their imagination instead/speculation of facts. 98% of the population is going to watch news. This comment below was "supposedly" made by a very intuitive film star and I agree with what was said

or whoever said it.:::

The remark floating around online that was said to have stated the following, "You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why. It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single victim of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody."

Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations*, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next. You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem."
