That's a pretty darn good kit. You might want to think about getting a fire rod just because they are affordable. Matches break lighter fluid runs out or gets spilled. Firesteel.com sells great products. A bag or pill bottle of dryer lint for tinder. Hand Sanitizer for cleaning and fire starter.you might also want to think about some food that would require water like an MRE or mayday bar

Panda, looks like you have assembled a great kit. Would you mind posting a picture of it? I’d like to see how large it is. I’d like to see how you pack all that stuff into the bag. It sounds like there is absolutely no room left!

Tinder, I know that you have a great deal of experience with various fire starting rods. Which do you recommend buying and what are the strong points behind that choice.

Recently I am very much in to the rods that firesteel.com makes because they make a great shower of sparks that continue to burn on the ground and I think foe the price they have great products. Heard nothing but good things about blast matches. I would stay away from the cheap colhgans but they are better than nothing. Storm matches are great to have because of the burn time and they keep going even if they get wet. That's my two cents

Not sure where you live Panda but check for a surplus store in your town. If there is a military base anywhere close by they will have lots of stores. Ebay and Amazon have thousands of surplus items. Plus you can look at the vendors on ebay/amazon and find their actual websites. Lots more deals and items on them as well. Thats probably your best bet.

You can get some tabs at Walmart for treating water. If you have access to the net you can get catalogs from places such as www.CHKADELS.com , www.Cabelas.com , www.BURK.com , www.cheaperthandirt.com and many more good supply houses that are on line and also send out paper catalogs. Once you start looking you will find all sorts of stuff.

As far as the money issue...look for things to do cutting grass, cleaning up a building site, etc. ..... never be afraid to ask anyone if they have a job you could do.....and always do as good a job as you can.

Look into other income possibilities....for an example visit http://www.lubedealer.com/Partsmans-Site It could give you an idea you had not thought of.

Best of luck with your future.
