Moonshine made easy

Recommended Posts

Guest kevin

this is the easiest way i have ever made a small batch of hooch.

place 50 lbs of corn chops in a 20 gallon plastic tub,add 3lbs sugar, cover with water. let "sour" for 10 days to two weeks(or til the dead flies on the top reach 1/2 thick....or you can cover with a window screen)

pour off the liquid"brewers beer" into another container. at this point you could drink the brewers beer, but it's nasty.

pour a portion of the liquid into a pressure cooker you have removed the pressure weight from, after removing the weight attach a 1/4 in cleaned copper plumbing tube to the hole that is left behind. you'll need 6 ft of copper line, coil the copper a few times and drip one of the coils in a bowl of water.

slowly heat the liquid in the pressure cooker til a small amount of steam comes out of the copper tube. steady the heat(no hotter) and place a mason jar at the end of the copper. a slow drip of hooch should come out soon.... thats the hooch.

the principle of the process is that the moonshine condenses faster than the water.....get it too hot and it doesn,t have a chance to condense and floats away as vapor....slow and easy does it.

as with any cooking the cleaner you and your implements are the less likely of bad results.

in many places you are required to have a brewers permit to do this.....but in a without rule of law world....

Oh No dont do it!!!!

You have to strain that stuff/or you will scorch the mix when temps reach 172(when certain things go to a mist/water turns mistey at 210 and with out controling heat your wasting time and corn/a condencer should be used also)

At least thats what I was told.

Please get the proper forms !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUST In CASE,

DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY

ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO TAX AND TRADE BUREAU (TTB)

APPLICATION AND PERMIT FOR AN ALCOHOL FUEL PRODUCER UNDER 26 U.S.C. 5181

Ya noticed a few missing bits too...

For those who care and if memory serves...with the proper forms, you are able to legally make 40 gallons of whiskey a year.

The first Foxfire book on page 301 goes into some of the history behind moonshine as well as different types of stills and how to diagrams.

If you scale them down and turn in your permits <covering the legal stuff> you could make a very viable still for your 40 gallons worth of shine.
