What happened to Survival?

Recommended Posts

The smells of human waste (waste water treatment is not a high priority there) and diesel fumes are the biggest smells I can remember. I'm with you Capt, I hope and Pray my family will never have to know what it's like but fear that thought is a "pipe dream".

I think I have read most of your articles; I find them thought provoking and educational. I do not have the number of tours Warrior has ( I don't include 30 day jaunts compared to his full tours) and my time was different from my Dad's (he was in just before you Capt). Hopefully, as you say, our "grandkids/kids will be trying to figure out what to do with our preps" because they were unused.

I am sorry Regulator I must have misunderstood your position. The way I read it came off as a REMF and it just made me... sorry I can not explain how I felt just that I had to respond I guess it is a good thing I am coming up on retirement. Capt. Bart the dust downrange has a very old a distictive smell so do the locals (trying to be nice similar to the viets an nam noc) mix that with the smell of a dump and if your near a town or city smoke and sewage it takes about a week after you get home for it to come off of your skin I usually destroy the uniforms I wore over there when I get back. I guess my state of mind is obvious to all you vets out there, I am working on it but it started long before the mil acknowledged it or offered help it started for me in 93 in Somalia and I guess according to my family everytime I went I came back more different so my apologies again. I thank you for thanking me but it seems wrong coming from another vet we all stood the wall we usually just nod at each other out of mutual respect and comraderie although I do salute the old timers who are showing their colors on post or at parades and ceremonies. So please if your a vet hold your thanks instead I will buy you a beer and you can buy me one and we can talk about the clueless and the stupid thing we have done and seen and if its one of those moments I'll get you drunk (I know its not the approved method but screw it it works for a little while) and watch your back till your safe and sober again

Warrior, no sorry needed. We all had to deal with the FOBETTES/REMFs. I tell vets thanks for not only being willing to "stand the wall", but my thoughts are for being there to help watch my back and the biggest one is for coming home.

I was lucky and the 10 guys who were on my team, the worst injury any of them suffered was a cracked rib. I too am "out", just waiting on the medical release.

The only tidbit I have on leadership is; you must lead people as you would move a cooked spaghetti noodle on a table. You must pull from the front because if you push from the rear it will not advance, only bunch up. (I know it's corny but the analogy has stuck in mind).

Like the leadership tidbit; very true. Especially now, since the current occupant of the white house likes to "lead from behind". There is a word for that, oh, yes, it is called cowardice.

In any event, I thank the current vets because they are buying freedom for my grand kids. I paid for theirs, they are paying for my grand kids and I appreciate it. If you're in Houston some time, I'll swap you beer for beer and tell you how to tell if the rotor vibration in a Huey is a lateral or a vertical.

Hint: it involved a well endowed red cross worker who didn't like bras.

Capt, I figure if it really hit the fan, he would lead from under a desk...LOL... but you're right, he's leading from behind a teleprompter at best and with his "leadership"; we'll be BEHIND the rest of the world in common sense and survivability. I agree about thanking them for standing a post for your kids/grandkids and down the line.

Capt, spent a few days down your way week before Thanksgiving; Waco and Ft Worth actually. Then they decided I was needed in Florida. I can only imagine about rotor vibration... I hate the organization but they do have some nice eye candy...lol.

Gun Owners of America

Rep. Walsh to UN:

No Gun Control Treaties

Representative Joe Walsh (R-IL) has drafted a bill that would block U.S. funding to the United Nations if it seeks to implement gun control measures affecting U.S. citizens.

Despite victories by gun owners in elections and legislative battles throughout the country in recent years, on the international front gun control is moving quickly.

Most significantly, in 2012 the UN plans to release a final draft of the Arms Trade Treaty—a treaty that will have severe consequences for American gun owners.

Meetings are held behind close doors, but from information gathered by GOA we believe that the ATT will, at the very least, require gun owner registration and microstamping of ammunition.

The ATT will define manufacturing so broadly that any gun owner who adds an accessory such as a scope or changes a stock on a firearm would be required to obtain a manufacturing license.

It would also likely include a ban on many semi-automatic firearms (like the Clinton gun ban) and demand the mandatory destruction of surplus ammo and confiscated firearms.

President Obama, not surprisingly, welcomes the treaty. He knows that he is unlikely to get such radical proposals through the Congress, so the UN provides him a backdoor way to enact gun control.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is also on board and began pushing for the treaty as soon as she was confirmed in her position. “The United States is prepared to work hard for a strong international standard in this area,” she said.

Since treaties must be ratified by the Senate, GOA is working continually to buck up weak-kneed Senators who might be pressured to ratify the treaty.

But the House, which controls the nations’ purse strings, can also play a role in killing the ATT (or any other anti-gun treaty, for that matter).

Rep. Joe Walsh’s legislation will cut U.S. funding to the UN if the international body imposes any restrictions on Americans’ gun rights.

This is a huge deal, because without the contributions of the United States, the UN would be crippled financially. According to government reports, U.S. taxpayers foot the bill for 22 percent of the UN’s regular budget and 27 percent of its “peacekeeping” budget.

American gun owners, in other words, are funding the organization that wants to do away with the Second Amendment!

Rep. Walsh is putting the UN on notice: back off our gun rights.

Entitled the “The Second Amendment Protection Act of 2011,” Rep. Walsh is now seeking original cosponsors to join him in the House. He plans to introduce the bill within the next week.

Rep. Walsh highlights for his House colleagues the necessity of his proposal, noting that:

* It is the constitutional power of Congress to determine United States foreign policy through the ratification of international treaties;

* U.S. Presidents, by signing on to treaties, have opened the door for international organizations to unilaterally regulate the lives of citizens of the United States;

* International and transnational organizations force their rules on people of the United States through conventions, multilateral agreements, and nonratified treaties, such as agreements that affect the private ownership of firearms by law-abiding citizens; and

* United States sovereignty is risked by domestic legal applicability of international treaties and executive agreements that have not been voted on and congressionally adopted through formal processes.

Let’s help Rep. Joe Walsh get as many cosponsors as possible. In the process, we’ll find out how many Representatives are willing to stand up to the behemoth United Nations in defense of the Second Amendment.

hi all

wow walking thru this thread was different.twisting and getting HOT.i'm not for sure,how i should respond. but the most important part to surviving ,is preping for what ever happens.rather its shooting bullets,or milking goats.my grandfather never went 2 weeks without electric,running water,he never had it.bart in our day zombies where the living dead on tv.some of the people i know,tell me of zombies in the future.are infected with weaponized rabbies.which i dont personly know anything about.but one thing i have seen and know a little about is the gangbangers are organizing from coast to coast,developing a webb from city to city.they're sending members into every op team in the military.they're becoming truck drivers.they have wherehouses of weapons.i was watching the news,it was admitted 20,000 un troops in us.i figured then there had to be at least 10 times that.i could'nt find out what in us,but north amer. was 3 million.so what do all these people know that i don't.i've heard how these games & tv have limited mind control abilities,why they stopped advertisers using them on commercials.and i also read in the bible.there it said people will try to hide in caves,but won't be able to.(short verison).so in short if you don't prep for everything your not preped.so do or die.this is my 2 cents.have we got a dollar yet.
