FBI & Homeland Security Caught Spying on Prepper Sites

Recommended Posts

IMHO

figures the whole world votes against us in the U.N. we support more than 3/4 with subsidies or money

we have had relatively few home grown idiots but many foreign attackers and even zealots are

not from here but our government seems to think their own citizens are the more dangerous

I think it is because they are deflecting their own dislike of the people they are suppose to look after.

I always hoped the agencies had enough ex military and honorable people that could see that we are

not the problem in general we have had some crazy people and I know they have a job to defend us

somewhere between the report and the end user something is getting twisted at least I hope so.

personally if you dont think the government doesn't already have files on every citizen and been doing it for the last fifty years you must be an ostrich.

come on folks, even 10 year olds could find your IP address and billing info attached to that IP address. The government is two steps ahead of me and you but a step behind hackers. So dont let it get to you. I am sure there are bigger fish to catch.

Thats true, but what they're doing with that info can only make me wonder. A special list just for preppers... They'll know we have food & water & guns. According to Rand Paul the government considers those who stockpile food & guns terrorists. Plus that recent Executive Order gives the government control of all food resources in the U.S. the president declares the need. It's funny, when the government stockpiles food & ammo its a good thing, but when we do it, we're terrorists? Hrmm

Don't forget, sometimes you use small fish to catch bigger ones. And if you have ever noticed that in schools of fish, the fish are usually the same or close to the same size. Just saying.

As someone who has been in the surveillance/security biz for quite a while, and someone who generally keeps his head out of his a$$ and his eyes on the horizon, I can say that there is there is some very scary stuff going on and scarier stuff coming, our government automatically puts vets returning from service on "domestic terrorist watch lists" and I think that we would be fools to think that they wouldn't watch us the most powerful computer in the world is the bsmt ( IS THE BSMT) of the NSA Building and used to monitor all comm traffic in the USA....hey you squinty guy in the underground bunker, while I have you attention can you do anything about my tax return taking so long? No..just thought I'd ask.

Maybe I am a bit naieve, but this doesnt bother me a whole lot. And if we are completely honest with ourselves, there are -some- people that are 'preppers' that are few fries short of a happy meal, if you know what I mean. I havent noticed any on this site, but after watching doomsday preppers, I would say there are deffinitely a few out there lol.

As to stockpiling food, I just cant see myself ever having enough food stockpiled to even make a drop in the bucket that is America. Even if I manage to get a years worth of food for me and my wife stocked, if I even tried to help out the neighbors on either side of me, suddenly I only have 3 months of food. Which is still an ok cusion IMO, but when you look at it like that, is that enough for the government to even blink about?

And when it comes to guns, I would be more worried about an avid hunter than most preppers honestly. The ones I know have waaaaaay more guns and ammo lieing about than we had in our armorers cage in the army!

So while I dont enjoy the thought of 'big brother' looking through my emails and posts and stuff, or that they watch returning vets closely, it doesnt worry me that much either. I think there might be a reason we dont have terrorist attacks like other countrys. And while some of that is America isnt a fertile breeding ground for extremeists, another reason is probably our governments vigilance. Now dont get me wrong, I think the goverment is so off base on so many things I couldnt list them all if I spent the next year writing them all out, but by and large I think the people inside the government carrying out its orders arent as out of touch as the elected officials calling the shots.

The alphabet agencies do not have the resources to be in every back room or alley on the planet, although long-standing practice is to encourage that perception. A good portion of the FBI's resources are devoted to domestic terrorism, but even then they're woefully understaffed. Electronic chatter is easy to scan and filter on keywords, and you don't need a warm body to do it. That's potentially a lot of intel bang for the buck, and "signals intelligence" is high tech sexy that politicians can drag out when they need to show both how cost-conscious and concerned for domestic security they are.

They probably don't care one bit about ordinary preparations. It's not worth the resources just to know where you've stashed 500 pounds of wheat. The "fish in the school" theory voiced above is spot on. They've developed a profile of the typical domestic terror suspect, and law enforcement is shopping.

We can speculate ad naseum about Big Brother and what they "could" do with the information. Even the KGB, which devoted more manpower and resources to domestic intelligence and oppression than any other agency on the planet, could not control all the dissidents or prevent the existence of black markets during the regime. The nails that stick up get pounded, not those who are living grey.

Yes I understand that if the government was to truly try to do something with even a tiny amount of this they would have to hire half of us to spy on the other half and hat isn't going to happen, the simple fact that they are doing this is a little unnerving to me, and as we all know the hackers are always 1 step ahead of the government and all of us, what happens when these hackers just say "thank you uncle Sam " for compiling the greatest possible file on all of us, and yes I understand that the files are created and compiled, stored reviewed and prioritized by computers, come on you've seen he terminator movies do you really trust SkyNet?

I think many fail to understand

super computers are quite able to continually monitor and track certain internet usage

should they ever need the information it will be discerned by state city street block address

no big whoop for them but there will be a time when that may be used.

I think we all know when that is.

it has already been used echelon and a few other innocuous names these are connected and

discern internet host to IP addresses data transfer type commands login and data amount and type

because it is a computer algorithm it only parses number of times accessed and certain anomalous

characteristics typing pattern word grouping and some other ingenuous {not ingenious} methodology.

encrypted passwords are tissue paper since about 1997 all encryption software creators have had to

back door enable a key and issue it to {guess who} so any data encryption is useless of course I have

archived older versions that do not have such revolving doors but they must be encrypted

numerous times and other methods also the computer that created them must be destroyed

for positive anonymity and layers of security but then how to send the passwords

and with 128 bit encryption you would need to have a photographic memory or a gold box book

predesignated to decipher the original packet

Well the sad part is government agencies dont need to do all of that their are tons of private sector companies that will gladly do the work for hte government and they are not as restricted by the existing laws

got that right Mrdahut

but they are only snitches in the system data mining and e-mail have been hacked some by

our own some by others.

do a web search on cameras and all of a sudden you receive e-mails for cameras

these entities like google are selling us out so they can be left out of lawsuits as they are

still a pipeline for underage sites.

haven't everyone wonders how it's ok for police and government to harbor underage pics

and through traffic from overseas sites is kept on any host and duplicated as the original is not sent

so why has our justice system taken action and shut down the country that offends us it would take only

a day of profit loss and heads would roll but your children are not important enough but they

draw that old cliche like a gun {but it's all about the welfare of the children}

anyone who believes that is a class A moron.

Follow the money boys and girls and it leads to all of the nations political systems are corrupt

or turn a blind eye as money talks and B.S. walks that is why our combined economies are in peril.

It's funny you say that, all the new propaganda by the DHS about "see something, say something" is basically telling Americans to spy on each other. They will be so afraid they wont mind telling the DHS that their neighbor has been stockpiling food or that your ideas don't line up with the majority, whatever it be. Back in Nazi Germany the SS's greatest tool was average German civilians including the Jews, most of their reports came from people spying on one another, something like 50-80% I recall. That could happen in the US if people are scared enough, they're telling us terrorists are under every table, which is bogus, but the people believe it. Also their are huge computer systems in place, one is called Carnivore (which had its named changed to something more benign) which monitors communication. Theirs other systems in place for your phone, your e-mail, etc.
