Shotgun to play dress up with

Recommended Posts

I should be picking up an 8 shot used Mossberg 500 at my FFL tomorrow. I got it at a very good price, and with the intention of having a Barbi gun (one you dress up and make pretty). I'm planning to add to it as funding permits and right now I've got a 12" LOP Houge stock for it.

I've never gotten a gun I could really dress up, and I'm not much of a shotgun guy to begin with. Anyone have any ideas of gee-wiz stuff to add to it?

paint it pink

IF you do you need to put 'Hello Kitty' on it in rhinestones! All my shotguns are straight - tubes, action and a butt cuff for spare rounds. Although, for HD use I think a flashlight up front would be nice.

Yeah, I normally try to keep my guns simple and light, but just for the heck of it I bought this shotgun so I could tinker with it and see how ridiculously "tacticool" I could make it.

As luck would have it when I got to my FFL one of the employees there was heading to the range and invited me to go with. So I picked up my new (to me) shotgun, bought a couple boxes of shells and headed out to his range to waste some powder. It shoots, and still handles pretty well with a fully loaded tube. When I got home my stuby stock was sitting on the front porch so I just now switched that out... man it feels good with the short LOP stock on it.

Yeah, flashlight is a must, still not sure if I should go with the receiver mounted type or tube/barrel mounted. Was thinking about getting it tapped for a reciever rail and parking my Eotech on it for optics. Still looking for other ideas though. Debating the idea of getting it parkerized or cerakoted. If it's cerakote i may very well do it up in pink or purple just for laughs, my only concern would be people thinking it's a toy.

101Matt,

Please do not say that. It makes you sound like a politician. LOL

That would be the least of my worries. The animals would laugh themselves to death. On the other hand you may attract some new friends. LOL

Everybody is different. I have a 7 shot Mossberg 500 and I put a M-4 style collapsing stock on it. I'm still debating the light and it's placement. I have a single point sling for ease of carry. No sidesaddle for me because of the aluminum reciever, can cause damage I've heard.
