Camoflage and Concealment (part 1)

Recommended Posts

LOL, Vis 9. How many do you want? I'd be glad to send you some

There are many good uses for corks. Burn for camo. Use for fishing. Plugging things. Making safe sharp objects. Found some at the hardware store and now keep a few different sizes in my BOB. (The Wino's are now happy and safe.)

sorry forgot to mention thermal has changed the game there is no magic anymore the only thing you can hide from is a dumb animal and they are not that dumb people are injured and killed by deer every season and

during the rut other animals we hunt have natural enemies if you get between them and their food scratch

one hunter nothing is certain and technology is tightening the noose.

Throughout my time in the Amphib-navy i've heard that mud, is the best quick way to hide both heat and smell. Not totally of course but the thing with mud is (as I was told): 1 Mud is wet, itll hold moisture to your skin longer even if the outside mud is dry, keeping your skin wet, lowering your skin temperature. and 2, mud will help seal in more of your scent making it harder to track you. Mind you this isn't 100% or even 80%, but helps. Just what I've been told.

From my experience the bigest give away is movement. Things done in training can be kinda funny...

I have sat under a spindly bare assed shrub with little to no concealment and have had most of a patrol pass me by. When thier point man thought he saw something he called a halt and the rest of em moved to make a secure peremiter.

One of em ploped down prone literally three feet from me and did not realize I was there until I spoke to him.

Easy to get??!! Decided to try your burned cork. I do not drink wine so I had no cork on hand.... have you ever tried to get a wine bottle cork from a "Wineo"? They just do not want to give it up. Found out that most of them get screw top bottles.

You can usually find cork at craft stores like Michales if you have any in your area.

As far as thermal goes the idea would be to keep your temperature as close to your surroundings as possible. The problem is generally you are hotter than your surroundings unless your in front of a rock mass that has been soaking up sunshine all afternoon. The use of gloves and a head/face shield should help. At night there is now a device offered for recovering game that would likely service anyone in a low light situation....as it would detect a thermal signature. Not the same as a good night vision device, but much less expensive I would think. Perhaps some of the guys in the spec ops would comment on this, since they tend to do most of their actions at night.

Do you have a thermal scope/vision because I don't. I would bet my life savings that most people don't. Maybe the local police will have a few thermal imaging devices and the military defiantly has them but I'm not planing on fighting them. There better armed and organized then me in almost every scenario I can think of. If I'm fighting normal looters who fall in that majority of the population category then camouflage is still very effective at concealing my position. Don't be so quick to hate on time tested concepts.

thermals cost a lot of money...too much for the average pocketbook..imagers over two grand per unit. better off buying old 2 gen night vision scopes or old russian night vision for anything close

    • Hey all, This is sort of cool (okay really cool) and maybe some of you have heard about it because it's been plastered over FOX and mentioned by POTUS as well as other conservative-leaning news people (Huckabee, Diamond/Silk, Candace Owens, Mark Levin, etc..) and politicians. #walkaway is a movement based mostly on social media. Started last year, by Brandon Straka (pronounced Strawk - like "straw" with a "k"). He's a former 2016 HRC-voting hair stylist, from NE, now in NYC, homosexual, liberal who began to question the MSM and what he was hearing. He got really frustrated as he began to do his own research. Anyway, after having his own awakening to the lies of MSM he had been following, he began an online testimonial campaign in which former liberals can post their #walkaway stories, written or video. Many are now on the "Trump Train." Many have simply left the Left. Still, others have always been non-Left and are members in support. The amazing thing is how many different people from all walks of life are beginning to wake up. Lots are not conservative on all issues, but all have a love for the USA and dislike the demonization of open political and social thinkers and speakers. This group gives solace to people scared to voice their conservative opinions or views for fear of negative professional or personal responses. It now has budding smaller groups in all 50 states and an online discussion group where people discuss current topics or issues (WITH no vitriol, gasp).  Here's the original video from Brandon.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=51UGcghHZsk This man, Brandon has a unique, stylish, well-articulated voice to help move people "in hiding" out into the open and not be silenced. Pretty much any video Brandon does is great. Here is the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/groups/OFFICIALwalkawaycampaign/ As I see fights erupt online, I simply leave #walkaway in the comments. Brandon has a goal of 1 million members! The liberal media has called this campaign "Russian Bots" and "paid actors." It's not!!!
    • thanks to all who  have served or are serving our great country....243 years in the making....   Trump did a good job today thanking each branch of our military and a long time coming salute to the coast guard too....
    • I can imagine food prices going up this Fall or Winter. Corn is used for live stock feed, & us humans consume a lot of corn based products, as well as corn based biofuel. I’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the mid-west of America, which is flooded by water. Where corn  & other crops are normally grown there. Farmers are quite worried about this years growing season. Time to stock up on extra food if you can, if you haven’t already. Stack it high, stack it deep. Store the foods that you normally eat. What ever the  amount of food you’ve stored,  try to double it if possible. Better extra safe, than sorry.
