hey hay. in mylar bags with oxygen removal packs rice and beans should last 20 years plus. the flour is open to debate. whole grains last longer( 20 years plus) if you don't mind grinding them as you need them. autonomous is right(as usual) eat what you store, store what you eat.

Hayseed, rice & beans you can easily store for 20+ years, as long as you keep them dry, away from light and most importantly - bugs. In a white, food-grade container which you can get for free from a local baker. Get mylar bags from www.beprepared.com. Place your food in them, seal, you're done.

One word of advice, though, beans will get tougher as they age, will need a lot more water and longer cooking time to prepare.

Before you go too far with this, I would recommend that you print out a food calculator, figure out what you would normlly eat over a one-month period. Get that, then go for three months. Don't forget things like TP, soap, toothpaste etc.

Use coupons, BOGO, watch for specials and close-outs.
