    The One Gun

    What firearm do you start with if you are starting your collection from scratch? In a recent thread, "Rifles for the apocalypse", there were a lot of good points brought up. Capt Bart said a few things that kept me thinking, and there is a difference in the questions of what "rifle" and what "gun" would you have for SHTF. I even have a different answers for TEOTWAWKI. So where would you start at if you were starting over? I humbly propose a 12 gauge and for me that would be the Mossberg 500. This is mostly because of my mantras of reliability, versatility, and availability of ammo. It has barrels available for defense, hunting fowl, rifled for slugs, and even muzzle loading.
