Why are you mad Excoastie? I wasn't trying to insult you. I know what a bronze star represents, I also know what a gold star represents. I knew the topic of PTSD would stir up some type of mess.

    Military themed Shadow box

That is a nice one excoastie, but you only had 5 medals? It looks odd to me since you were an officer. Anyways the day I left base I made sure to fill up on gas, tax free cigarettes, and tax free booze. I didn't retire so no one did anything special for me other than miss me and cry about a damn fine sailor making his exit. Oh and it really rubs me raw that Vietnam Vets get stereo typed, I know all this PTSD awareness is a double edge blade it seems to be re named and classified after every war to mean a whole new thing, now OIF and OEF vets have PTSD and all want to commit suicide, hurt others, and this and that, its bologna if you ask me. I feel some aspects of PTSD are misrepresented and Capt Bart I think you are right about the "vets are terrorist" thing its coming, I've seen negative portrayals of OIF/OEF veterans on tv a really alarming amount to be honest.
  7. I have 18ft Chaparral bay boat with a mercury 3L engine that I use for recreational purposes, I love my boat and being out on the water. So I thought that since the weather will start to warm up very soon out here in beautiful Southern California I should reevaluate what I carry on my boat aside from what is required to comply with the U.S. Coast Guard i.e. life jackets, flares, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, oar/paddle, and radio communication. So here is a list of items i carry with me on outing no matter the length of time ill be out. - 1 case of bottled water - 2 bags of cvs snacks pretzels and chips sort of thing - 1 Life Gear LED flashlight/spotlight *see description below. - fishing tackle box and 3 poles (if im out early) - 1 fully charged 80g Ipod to blast some tunes - green and red glow sticks 2 of each (port and starboard markers on the bow) - 1 G.I. poncho - mooring/docking line about 30 ft - 50ft of bungees cord tow line for the inner tube - 1 spray can sunscreen - 1 suncreen lotion tube - 2 cans of tanning lotion, which was left behind by white people lol I tan naturally - 2 fixed blade knives - 1 cooler with about 10lbs of ice - hand tools limp home repair items I dont have a bimini top just a canopy type thing that incloses the entire boat from the front glass to the back. Sometimes I carry my S&W governor and load it with PDX defender .410 or Federal .410 000 Buck, but that was only out in Mississippi I and still a little fuzzy on if I can do that here in California although I think Im good to go. I also never go out alone. In the next few weeks I will be adding a bow light just incase. * this life gear light is awesome it has a red light that will remain solid or blink and is water tight, so it floats and it also has a water tight compartment that I stuffed with zip ties, matches, lighter, hand warmers, benedryl, nausea pill, pen, and some spider wire and hooks with clinch weights. Look it up its great for any type of emergency type situation and runs on 4 AA batteries. I guess thats all I can think about at the moment, I follow all the rules of boating and leave notes and fb where i will be launching my boat from the standard stuff. Im open to advice and critiquing and would like to know what special gear you might carry in your boat.

    Calling the Police

So let me just start of by apologizing if this is in the wrong subcategory. So I live in Los Angeles and tonight so drunk fools drove on my street at high rate of speed and threw a full glass corona beer bottle at my dads truck, then parked down the street and went into a local watering hole. I put the pieces together as best as I could being dark and all saw the splashed on the side of the truck, which was facing the street, saw the mark on the side where the bottle made contact, and saw the shattered clear glass on the street. So I go down the street find the car (which my brother saw and gave me a description of) made contact with the parking attendant and asked for any small black car that entered played dumb and pretended not to know anything then I said "I live on this street a black car just came in here in the past 2 minutes with a group of drunk fuck who just threw an full glass bottle, so show me any and all small black car" he pointed at the first two in front, I approached the car and could clearly see the a case of glass corona bottles and a still full bottle next to the driver door, I said "this is the car where is the driver?" again he played stupid. I called the cops and to my surprise :/ they showed up 80 minutes later and didnt make contact with me. I saw them went to get my phone, wallet, keys and put shoes on went outside to go to the corner and hash this all out and they left as I made my approach. WTF is going on with the fucking LAPD that these mofos can't respond in a timely manner ugh it makes me so motherfucking mad. So tomorrow I will go down to the police station and file a police report not for insurance purposes, but to accumulate information and data on the fact that the police force isn't doing anything for my neighborhood. The city of Los Angeles doesnt have my six, yet they do not issue CCW permits ever, because they police will protect me and my family (yeah right). I did the right thing and didnt get into any altercations no matter what anyone else thinks, because clearly these guys were intoxicated going into the bar and leaving it I can only imagine. Plus my dad drive a beat up 1976 Chevy pick-up damage was the least of my concerns. I have the vehicle description and their plate number.

    Calling the Police

Here is my point I want to get across Major Krisis, I believe law enforcement serves a purpose and I know my call was low priority, but for 2 LAPD squad cars to merely pass by over an hour later with the perp still being in the parking lot and do nothing about it is BS, I mean why even bother coming out if they weren't gonna do anything about it? I applied to LAPD and they told me it would be 2 years before I could be hired, yet they send me constant request to show up to their career fairs. I sat in a room with 120 other veterans to take the exam for LAPD people want to do the job, but they arent being effective. When I joined the navy I was good and ready within 1 month. This city has millions of dollar owed to it from businesses in the city which no one ever collected or there was no way to collect if the business never paid. These are my two options for mayor they are Democrat(White female) and Democrat(white male), Problem with that? Im not sure of your source for that police to citizen ration, but the LAPD doesn't patrol all of Los Angeles county, some parts are patrolled by the LA sheriff's and some towns/city's within LA county have their own Police departments mine has both which I believe to be a problem as it would create a "let them deal with it" mentality.

    BOB Trial

That's great LadyWolf, I recently went camping in Yosemite park and had a blast spent 3 days and 3 nights up there and it was pretty cold and windy at night, but I was comfortable in my USGI sleeping bag. I camped with more than my bug out bag though, because I didn't think GF would survive or enjoy it to much. Breakfast was the best meal of the day, so I want to share a bit of advice if you are bringing a cooler. Freeze water bottles and a gallon of water instead of bagged ice and if you want some eggs for breakfast like I always do, I cracked some eggs and poured them into a plastic water bottle then froze them. Good luck out there.

    Gun Policy & Law Enforcement

Hey guys wanted to bring this up to everyones attention. This is my district senator interviewed today. CONGRESSMAN XAVIER BECERRA ON SENATE BACKGROUND CHECK VOTE WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after gun violence prevention legislation which would expand background checks, failed by a vote of 54 to 46 in the United States Senate: “When 90 percent of the American public supports universal background checks, it’s time to act. What are we waiting for? Unfortunately, a minority of Senators blocked the bipartisan measure using the procedural filibuster showing how out of touch and extreme they are. “The Senate should not turn its back on the victims and families across the country affected by gun violence. Congress must perform its duty and do everything it can to protect our families and communities. This means passing common sense measures to keep dangerous firearms out of the hands of dangerous people. The failure of the Senate to do so is very disappointing.” source: http://becerra.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1068%3Acongressman-xavier-becerra-on-senate-background-check-vote&catid=3%3Apress-releases Okay I was never asked If i agreed with universal gun control so how can 90% of americans be for universal background checks? US population: 312 Million (estimate) 90% of that 312 million is a lot of fucking people and I'm no math magician to come to the conclusion, so they all want universal background checks? this stinks of BS. Oh sorry guys my number was just called to take a bite of this shit sandwich. The fact that politicians have the audacity to throw numbers around and made it seemed as truth really grinds my gears. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the country's population now to be 315,688,000,[5] including an estimated 11.2 million illegal aliens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_of_America#Demographics /rant

    question for veterans

I completely understand, join the Army. Be all you can be, LOL.
  17. heavy chevy

    question for veterans

Join whatever branch you really want to join no one like hearing regret lots of people in old unit would say "i should have been a marine" or "I should just joined the Airforce" and all I could say and think is "shut the fuck up" those chumps are just as bored and under appreciated as us, although I would say if you enjoy luxury and being pampered join the Airforce those guys truly get the top of the line gear and barracks life. If you want to go Army go for it, but know that no matter what branch you join until you complete a deployment no one in your unit will truly respect you. So to wrap this all up my experience was as followed years 1-3 years were good, 4th year okay, 5-7th year I was on medical hold and fucking hated it, but your experience will vary. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world and would do it all over again if necessary.

    Planning the GHB

my suggestions for this great built pack baseball cap/hat sunscreen sunglasses (blocks sun and hides your eyes) Multitool I've heard of people being arrested, but mostly harassed by police for carrying a Pry bars, since they are common tools used in burglaries and illegal activities. Not saying you are a thief, but it would help avoid delays in your travel. If my assumption is right you live in the South.
