    FYI #Walkaway

Hey all, This is sort of cool (okay really cool) and maybe some of you have heard about it because it's been plastered over FOX and mentioned by POTUS as well as other conservative-leaning news people (Huckabee, Diamond/Silk, Candace Owens, Mark Levin, etc..) and politicians. #walkaway is a movement based mostly on social media. Started last year, by Brandon Straka (pronounced Strawk - like "straw" with a "k"). He's a former 2016 HRC-voting hair stylist, from NE, now in NYC, homosexual, liberal who began to question the MSM and what he was hearing. He got really frustrated as he began to do his own research. Anyway, after having his own awakening to the lies of MSM he had been following, he began an online testimonial campaign in which former liberals can post their #walkaway stories, written or video. Many are now on the "Trump Train." Many have simply left the Left. Still, others have always been non-Left and are members in support. The amazing thing is how many different people from all walks of life are beginning to wake up. Lots are not conservative on all issues, but all have a love for the USA and dislike the demonization of open political and social thinkers and speakers. This group gives solace to people scared to voice their conservative opinions or views for fear of negative professional or personal responses. It now has budding smaller groups in all 50 states and an online discussion group where people discuss current topics or issues (WITH no vitriol, gasp). Here's the original video from Brandon. This man, Brandon has a unique, stylish, well-articulated voice to help move people "in hiding" out into the open and not be silenced. Pretty much any video Brandon does is great. Here is the Facebook page: As I see fights erupt online, I simply leave #walkaway in the comments. Brandon has a goal of 1 million members! The liberal media has called this campaign "Russian Bots" and "paid actors." It's not!!!
  2. Hey to all - it's been awhile for me. UPDATES: Been super busy with parenting and homeschooling. Our first stab at our garden this past summer was a raging success. Planning more for this year. Fruit trees are off to a fantastic start - growing, but not mature enough yet to fruit. (we had 1 apple last fall, which our toddler promptly plucked despite mommy and daddy reminding all kiddos not to touch the trees.) I put in 60 heads of asparagus too. Nut trees are being planned. Our sweet beagle girl passed away an she's now resting under the front tree and we have a new pup around to love on and to love us. He is an amazing watch dog. Legislation is changing in our state, making the state more "in charge" of what parents can do with their kiddos, which has spurred me into another extensive re-up on our prepping. I know most of you probably live it daily, but that's really hard for us in this season of life. Better to go crazy for a month or two and then settle into a routine. At least this gives it some ease. I started a windspeed study late last summer to measure windspeeds at 6 locations around our acreage. The digital anemometer is helping me make an informed choice on placement for a wind turbine. Even if we don't do it, it will make interesting data for a kids' future science fair project. Anyway, the neighbors have a million chickens they raise for eggs and then slaughter for meat. But I recently read an article about ducks and duck eggs being larger. I like ducks better than chickens. Any thoughts? Nice to see you all.

    Cheap land

Oh and keep in mind, cat tails only grow where water is present 1-3' below the surface of the ground or visible. So even if there's no stream or pond, if there's cat tails, there's water.

    Cheap land

I'd also add for the bank loan regular bank will lend on a empty land...I have experience with need to seek out a bank that underwrites land by itself - like a rural financial institution. I've worked for Wells, USBANK and others and I know none of them lend to individuals for vacant land unless there is immediate intent to build. Like within the year.

    The Fairer Sex and Survival

I have had the hardest time signing onto this site lately. Ugh. Anyway, I had hoped to have responded sooner, but I was not able to get on. a woman... I guess I have a question: Is she refusing to consider that there is danger out there (head in the sand)? Or, is she refusing to get all excited about the same things you get into? If it's the latter, I wouldn't worry too much. Your prepping might be a hobby to her or she sees it as your thing or as your interest. Women are already conditioned to view the world through eyes of being a victim to assault and harm (walking with car keys out, locking doors, avoiding odd places). We have to be this way every single day. Because every single day we are targets. I even wonder if women are far better than most sheeple men because sheeple men have had zero experience with threats. ZERO. Most women get it. We just do from the cat calls on down to the direct threats. When you get viewed as a piece of meat by people you tend to have a higher awareness. And, the mama bear will ALWAYS defend her young. But if she's the former - the truly head in the sand type - really the only way to not make her run the other direction from learning a bit is to provide the facts. But to also use phrases like, "Peace of mind." and "Security." And an "I care about you" emotional connection to make her see it's something you are doing with her not trying to get her on board with your prepping plans. "Why can't you just..." Is the fastest way to lose your audience. Also, I recommend Conceal Carry University. It's a DVD series by Patrick Kilcherman. Sells on Amazon. Amazing reviews. EVEN if you or she never carry concealed (I don't...yet), this is a super helpful series of classes and well worth the $100 for the 6 DVDs which are professional and highly informative for the newbie but also for the expert (LEOs and ,military people have watched this too).

    Cheap land

Craigslist? Lots of people here list there. Or there are other realty sites dedicated to rural plots. Have a water source. Check the county’s 30 or 40 year planned use documents. Also check utility company plans for sub stations.

    The Fairer Sex and Survival

Really great post and questions. I'm a woman and I'll ponder this a bit more before responding. (No offense taken at all BTW).

    Wild edibles

I have seen grow your own mushroom kits in grocery stores before. I bought one once. It worked on a very small scale, but it sent spoors out everywhere (I had it inside) and that that annoyed I tossed it. LOL. I have an excellent book for Foraging in the Midwest. It's called Midwest Foraging by Lisa Rose. She grew up foraging. I like this book because it discusses plants in seasons and when they are used - in color - and what parts to use. It also gives basic warnings of not foraging near RR tracks (chemical seepage from the RR ties) or roads (run off).

Survival foods that are not expensive and light weight

I would even wager a guess while they may lose some nutritional value past expiration, they are likely safe to eat past that date and would give some calories to stave off hunger, though they make lack in terms of power packed vitamins and minerals.

What to Consider in a Pickup Truck

Really great advice! I think we will simply stick to a dealer for a large purchase like a vehicle though.

What to Consider in a Pickup Truck

We are a two car family. We have four kids. Any vehicle we buy must seat 6. We have a minivan as our primary car. Our other car will end its life in a year or two. When it does, we want to buy a pick-up truck. We can justify that since we live rural now and can certainly use the hauling and bed capability. We will likely buy used and pay with cash. We are leaning toward an F150 with a front bench seat and a full size back seat ( to get our 6 seats). Any advice or must-haves? Things to avoid? Any other makes to consider? Certain accessories? This will be my husband's vehicle. We won't do the "interior frills."

What to Consider in a Pickup Truck

Husband doesn't drive much each month for work (to and from the airport), but he does have some city driving. And, we use this second vehicle in the city quite a bit for when we need to both be places with kiddos. We will look into an automatic. I love Craigslist and I buy as well as sell quite a bit there. But, I am leery of vehicles on it. How does one ensure the car is okay? How does one get the vehicle to a mechanic to check it over before buying? What legal protection would a buyer have on Craigslist for a vehicle that ends up being a lemon?

    Vegas Stinks Like Fish

I'm only reading the MSM on this Vegas shooting event and its investigation. Yes I could read non-MSM but that will take me to a dark place. Nevertheless, what MSM is reporting is so obviously screwed up. Think of all those casino robbery movies, Oceans whatever number. Terry (the bad guy) always says, "someone's always watching" in reference to the mega surveillance in ALL casinos and hotels attached. So now the LE and MGM hotels (owner of Madalay Bay), are disputing with one another whether the shooter shot Jesus, the hotel employee, before or after the mass shooting occurred. And, one news outlet reported the security/maintenance guy wasn't wearing his audio recording device, which allegedly is mandatory. LE knows shooter used tracer bullets. But no tracers could be seen in the night sky. The news reader is left to conjecture why no tracers were visible. Lights turned on?? Well, lights often and necessarily get turned on at the end of concerts (those stadium type lights take awhile to warm up to full power). And the shooting began at the concert's end. This guy had lots of money. What's it's source? Just independently wealthy? From what job? Why don't we know where he worked or from where he's retired? Lastly, they found a paper with shooting calculations on it in his room. Distance, drop, and etc.. This isn't basic everyday knowledge, right? Or is it? I really don't know. Anyway, we are buried deep ya'll. Look to the Light!

    Hey GOOD NEWS !

I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. Type away! I'm sorry if I offended you. It is good you keep a journal/notebook.

    Hey GOOD NEWS !

My parents got audited awhile back. Same thing as you. Dad keeps meticulous records and proved 'em wrong.

    Hey GOOD NEWS !

No worries, Snake. I enjoy your posts (but sometimes the lack of punctuation is tough for me to follow your thoughts). That's just a friendly nudge. BTW. I tell my husband the guys here are my "internet dads," the trusted group of unknown men who think and give good advice on a miriade of topics. Ha! I enjoy it here. But I do wish more people posted like years ago!

    Who's your DADDY !

Sometimes a liberal, atheist friend I have (who is polite and considers others' views, and respects religion) discuss current events on Facebook. One of his friends discussed too. My my main takeaway from these talks are the unwillingness and inability to call anything or anyone 'evil.' When there is no evil defined we cannot adequately fight against it. This is why going after guns and tools makes sense to them because if we removed the tools of violence people would be good. But they can't even define good or evil so it's a big farse. The Bible says people will call darkness as light. It's happening.
  18. Google or Bing 'decriminalizing hiv' articles will pop up.

Hurricane Harvey this is a bad one

Continuing to think of you all down there! Thanks for the updates. Discussions on my home school forum include lines like "never expected this," "didn't have enough warning," and "thought they'd be fine." That is the exact opposite mentality then we have here. To be fair, plenty of posters there do prep even modestly. So many share my perspective. But sheesh. Why NOT prep? Foolish. Foolish. Foolish.

Hurricane Harvey this is a bad one

Just heard army corps of engineers is having to let water out of damns to release pressure. They've never done this while it's actively still filling!

Hurricane Harvey this is a bad one

We prayed for TX this morning at church. Amazes me the idiocy of people. It's sheeple not thinking. Whenever natural disasters hit, I am amazed. Glad you're okay, Snake! Keep us posted!
  23. Best of luck Snake. Just said a prayer for ya!

    "Collision" or not...

Now that someone has a firm stance on Kim. I call hogwash on two navy vessels being involved in two collisions in less than three months. It's cover for some other covert activity...smuggling people and/or "goods" into NK or smuggling people and/or "goods" out?

    August 2017 solar eclicpse

Nice combo post on eclipse and annoyance with government, etc.. We had 84% coverage here. Viewed it with glasses. Kids were like, "eh okay."
