    what cha watchin?

Be forewarned Dexter can be very very gory, not "Saw" or "Hostel" type of gory, but gory. However even with the gore it's well worth watching in my opinion.

Long post, by the time I got to the bottom I forgot it even said that. My apologies Though the point still stands.

    Advice from my grandmother

Such choice of words can take away focus from your grandmothers words of wisdom and turn a good post into an attack on homosexuality and non traditional families. I disagree with your assertion and find the traditional family unimpressive. I have seen many strong non traditional families and many more (through statistics alone) weak traditional families. Two mothers and two fathers would have the same capability as a mother and a father in raising and caring for a child. The argument that can be made against that, is by arguing a gender inequality which can be viewed as equally bigoted. Might I end by making the point that most "non traditional" families are made up thrown away children and outcast adults. None of whom, I promise you, are less capable than anyone you'll find in a "traditional" family.

What is the best 9mm rifle?

I've looked through a bazillion carbines and I have no idea what to get. My father-in-law wants a 9mm rifle for the BOL and I am coming into some spending money in June. In your opinions, what is the best 9mm rifle out there and why? The combat plan is for everyone to have a 9mm of some kind at all times. I personally want to carry a 9mm and a rifle. Problem is I can't use a pistol because my right hand shakes more than Michael J Fox's when he's watching the naughty channels. (And I'm right handed)

What is the best 9mm rifle?

P210SIG these are all close quarters. 9mm for under 100 yards, .308 for over (imho) But to be honest I can't even hit a piece of paper at 10 yards with a 9mm pistol as is. My hands are shaky and my eyes are crap. I've long come to terms with the fact I'm the designated distraction in a skirmish.

I prefer Hulu over everything else. I have both Hulu+ and Netflix. Series tend to give you a better bang for your buck over movies. Movies are too short winded.
  9. Just to note now, my current BOB is a very very old alice pack that's been with me for at least 15 years or so. Prior to that it was an old backpack. However here is my theoretical problem and my solution should I have the time to implement it. My parents were makeshift survivalists, they weren't really good at it, but they tried. Their idea of bug out was to grab your BOB, cover yourself in camo and hit pre-ordained patch of woods. The camo part I've long weeded out of my ideology. Camo gets you noticed. Camo might even get you mistaken for a combatant in the right BO situation. So I've put together a set of very durable street clothes. That being said, I realized I'm still in street clothes with an alice pack. I live in a very urban environment so I might as well hold a sign that says "I have needed supplies, please shoot me and take them." With that in mind I've begun looking for ways to design BOB² or better known as the Bug Out Belly. If I lose a bit of weight, and wear an oversized button up shirt, I should be able to hide a front-pack under my shirt and just look like a regular guy with a beer belly. Also for more space I am sewing extra pockets on the inside of my BOP (Bug Out Pants ) which are already 2 layers of heavy denim. For even more space I am thinking of wearing a modified sling on my right arm and filling the sling with smaller supplies. I was originally going to use an aluminum medical cane for a walking stick and fill the hollow with even more supplies, but recently I invested in a 6 foot (ext to 12) fiberglass and aluminum painting stick. I figured this would be a much better walking stick, as it would then give me a possibly needed 12 foot+ reach. To top it all off I have an overlarge straw hat to keep the sun off my head. So if the world ever ends, and you see a guy wearing an overlarge straw hat with a broken arm and a large beer belly carrying around a paint stick. Don't shoot him, that's just me trying to get away

    The Visvalor Escape Theory.

DonDon just make sure it's a SHTF scenario before you go shooting people, and not just a fart-hits-your-mustache. Exit, in my experience the first 6 hours no one believes anything is wrong, and everything is still under control. The next 24 hours you see people going a little crazy and GOOD. After 3 days, it'll be hell. I'll be gone in the first 2 hours to my first evac point. From there I wait until I know it's either safe to come back or go straight to BOL.

    what cha watchin?

I haven't even made it past the first episode of the colony. I go about 4 minutes and want to shoot every one of them. Especially the "security" expert who takes the game and his acting WAY too seriously. Also 101matt *high five* Firefly!

    Hi From la Belle France

Hey Wolfe, pleased to meet you. You should probably dig around the older posts here and there to get an idea of what to expect. This is a good forum with good people, which is sometimes hard to find on the internet.

DVD actually. As far as Netflix goes, if you haven't seen Limitless, it's a good watch.

    What I'm Worried About

.... you think they did poorly? I'm assuming you weren't there. It wasn't a rescue mission it was a training exercise. They did a test run on a low scale SHTF scenario to see how they could reestablish control. They shot a lot of people, but mostly everyone surrendered. It went swimmingly. When TSHTF all those "preppers" either turned in their gun for the camera (as seen on YouTube) or got their house cleaned out which they did not show you. You might think it's tin foil hat time, but I promise you with all that I am, I patched more bullet holes in empty houses post-Katrina then I fixed broken windows from storm damage. They say 1300 people died during Katrina, do you really think those of us born and raised in southern Louisiana can't swim? Do you think the people that stayed behind instead of evacuating the Cat 5 hurricane were unprepared? Sure some were, some were too poor or stubborn to leave. But not 1300 worth. I'd estimate 200 died from drowning, wind damage, etc. The other 1100 I'd wager every bit of myself were murdered, and I'd say no more than another 200 were murdered by gang members, looters and marauders. So that leaves the US military. You can scream PayDay, you can tell me to put on my tin-foil hat. It doesn't matter, I don't care what your opinion might be. But I was there through a good bit of it. I'm not trying to inspire distrust or fear, just warn you things might not be as you think they are.

Link doesn't work for me. Is it an adobe based home server?
  20. Lol sorry NavyVet_77, I got through Katrina, Ricksconnected is absolutely right. It's better used to plant the seed of doubt you mentioned if they don't shoot you for talking to them.
  21. That's my idealogy. Visvalorism is clan based survivalism. Vis meaning strength and Valor meaning honor. Also an anagram Visvalur -> Survival (Or Sorvival if you don't switch the O)

    Self Defense Training

Eh. I have to recommend reading the book "Put em Down, Take em Out!" before ever selecting any martial arts or self defense classes. It's one of the more influential combat books I've ever read. If you look hard enough you can find it online. Don't go through Amazon, they'll charge you a first born. /edit To touch up on what Warrior7r just said. I agree, the women's self defense classes are a big *&@*ing joke. Their "practice" come-at-me rape actors are less violent than fast-food employees after a long day at work. I loathe women's self defense classes with a passion.
  23. Farmers Almanac! That's what I'm missing. I've got a wide collection of books in case things go wrong, and I knew I was missing something important. A+ NavyVet_77 !
  24. DanM / NavyVet, if you look back in the history of Survivalists there used to be a sect that went by the name of the Retreaters. I was referring to my family members, ergo the arrows. There was family of retreaters, then a bit that called themselves survivalists, then a bit that calls themselves preppers. I'm a Visvalorist. Self named. Same s**t different name I wasn't in any way insulting Survivalists, if you look around you can read a little about the Retreaters. In fact I do believe I have some Doomers in my family as well, I forgot to mention them.
