    Girls With Skills!

I've often thought that it would take a "special" girl to live in a bunker, eat MRE's, go without showers, clean/kill game, etc. I even thought about creating a dating site that matched like-minded women and men. As we know, our families need to act as a "unit" in order to survive. If the one we have decided to partner up with ends up being the "weak link," its going to be a long winter! Today I read this article that addresses that very issue. It's pretty good reading! http://www.survivalhelpcenter.com/?p=398 Enjoy and stay safe! 3. I didn't write the article. It was an article from CNN that was posted by me on my site www.survivalhelpcenter.com. I'm not opposed to shameless self-promotion, but I am opposed to plagiarism. I forward links to this site if it pertains to the subject and if I think it will be useful to others. Sorry if it was misleading. Thanks, Shane

I currently own five hammocks and they are very useful, not only for sleeping, but for also storing items off the ground. I found a great hammock site that has tons of choices and great prices. The site is http://www.divinehammock.com. Just thought I would pass the info along. Shane

    *Reno Gun Show*

Is anyone going to the Reno gun show this weekend? If you've never been, it's a good one! Heads up though. There have been instances where the Fed's have set up booths and sold items not legal in Ca. then waited for the buyers to enter into Ca then arrest them. Be smart!! www.survivalhelpcenter.com
  15. What if you were faced with just a temporary situation? It seems that a lot of people are preparing for the the long haul, which is great. What if it were a temporary natural disaster that we were faced with? Can people afford to hunker for a month? What about the job they left for a month? Does sick leave play in to it? Do you have a contingency plan for coming back to your home, work? http://www.survivalhelpcenter.com/?p=433

What if it was just a temporary situation?

Katrina was a great example. People fled and rightly so, when they came back, they had to start over. I'm too freaking old to start from scratch. I have a fair about of currency and precious metals stashed to at least give me some working capitol and some "real" food. I'd hate to come back home and have to eat MRE's, or canned tuna for a year because I was ONLY prepared for a long term situation. I'm just sayin' www.survivalhelpcenter.com

    *Reno Gun Show*

Malcolm, I just checked and it's promoted as "The Big Reno Show". I've been to it several times and its a good show. Lots of firearms, quality accessories hunting stuff, western collectible stuff, and lots ammo at great prices! I'm going to pick up a couple thousand rounds of .223 and .40. I checked and the next show they are having is Aug.17-19. If you're in the area during that time, it's worth a stop.

    Semiauto or Bolt

Just my thoughts.....They are completely different weapons used for totally different things. It would be deciding on whether to buy a driver or a sand wedge. You need both of them....buy both:D
  21. I've been getting a lot of requests for two-way radios, marine radios, shortwave radios, etc. I now have a Survival Communications store on my site!!! There's a great selection and great prices! If there is any other requests, just let me know and I will try to provide it to you. Thanks!! http://www.survivalhelpcenter.com/stores/survival-communications/

What if it was just a temporary situation?

Thanks Texas Bill....I'm thinking along the lines of 2 week, 4 week, 6 month, and a year out contingency plans. When we have the opportunity to come back home, you will have to have start-up capitol and a game plan. A lot of people think about the "big" situation, but I for one, think also about short term. There will be a house to come back to and responsibilities. Part of surviving is not letting a disaster (natural/man-made) completely ruin your life. Just a thought.
