    Hello from Tennessee

Golly warrior-you are smart! Thank you for those tips, writing em all down. House next door is for sale-lol-only neighbor I have, another widow, you and your family are just gonna have to come live next door....*giggle**...I do pray if sold, that they will be preppers or have the knowledge I don't! Another question here, if I have like the rice sealed in a 5 gallon pail, when needed and opened, how long will it last, won't be sealed anymore?

    Hello from Tennessee

Thank you warrior, I've been looking at Go-Foods Gobal, nice, but very expensive!! Like 1500 "portions" for 1500 bucks-but that's like one pkg. may have 6 "portions" in it. I will try your sites tomorrow. I got a sample from one company, a noodle something, was not bad, but not much in it either, not enough to feed 6 like it said, unless you are having to ration it. So, a gasketed lidded pail will keep dry goods "good"? Do I need to buy oxygen packets? I will never be on the move, just here in my home, need shelves up soon. I'll order some pails tomorrow, thanks for the tip. Thinking of trying to bury some large drums with diesel in them? I need pioneer seeds, lol, don't even know how to plant anything, guess I would learn! SheNemo
  6. Hi survival101, This is funny, I'm very new in here. But I do have one suggestion about the liquor, I have read this is very good for bartering with people for other things. We all need "bartering" items stored up. It's also good for medicinal purposes.....and to indulge (lol). There are a lot out there that would probably swap anything for a bottle, if they had none! And cigarettes? Boy, for the smokers, if none available, you could probably get a whole pig for a case...**giggle**. Some things, if and when TSHTF (did I do that right?), will be worth more than gold or silver, and paper money may be worthless, that's when the liquor, cigarettes, tobacco, salt, beans-on and on....could save your life with "bartering". If moving within 3 mos-to 2 years.BIG DIFFERENCE! I would start with the basics anyway, world is crazy, in 2 years a lot of things will happen, good or bad, the world is changing, and I think for the worse. Regards, SheNemo

    Hello from Tennessee

Thank you all! I already feel welcome in here, and boy, do I need help! Learning all I can, fast. Have the river and a spring, but yes, need a filter system. Have a very deep well too, and city water. I think I could make the well pump work somehow without power....a generator? Food is overwhelming me right now, canned, packaged, or freeze dried? Or all? I want to start buying, like tomorrow....lol. I have a sealer for bags, like maybe put a box of powered milk in a sealed bag..need the little oxygen things? A box unopened is good for a year, wouldn't it be good for several if I sealed it myself? As for the water thing now, I'm gonna buy a few cases of bottled water, it's good for over a year, and cheap, and sealed. Thanks, SheNemo

    Hello from Tennessee

Hi Ruger, I'm in the Chattanooga area. Thank you for the reply. Yeah, I don't hear much around here about preppers, as I said, they all think I'm nuts! I have been reading these posts, it's helping me. If this election "goes bad" this year-we're all in trouble! Got guns n ammo, need to start the food. Thanks for the cheaper than dirt site-I may have seen that. I keep getting emails from G0-Foods Global, these seem soooo expensive! I will check out yours. Still don't know about cans, or freeze dried, or just sealed. Is this post to you private? Still learning on here. Thanks, Nemo My choices here are "post quick reply-go advanced-reply to thread", don't know the difference yet. I'm doing the post quick reply

    Hello from Tennessee

Hi, I am new here. I just want to learn....how to do everything I need to, to protect my family. I just ordered candles and lamp and matches. My main question is where is the best place (site) to buy survival foods? Freeze dried, canned, or bag sealed? I am alone, and want to store up enough for my small family if needed, of course they think I'm nuts. Just trying to figure out where to start. Obivously I need to start with food, just not sure where or what kind. I live on the river, so I will always have water, just need to know how to make it pure, if needed. Just boiling? Anyway, I'm here to learn from you guys. I'm gonna do this!! Thanks, SheNemo
