  1. I want everyone's personal opinion/preferences on this matter what is your top 20 must haves in your BOB!? Details Details! Specifics! For example: Instead of just 1. Knife. Instead you put something like: 1.E37S-N SEAL Pup Elite Straight TiNi Blade. Kits such as first aid kit, sewing kit, gun cleaning kit counts as one. Things such as food counts as one but be sure to put quantity. Don't forget to list the bag/backpack itself! I'm interested to see everyone's choices. I will try to post my list soon!

    Salt!

hickory roots have higher concentration of salt than the branches do, true! but in a survival situation im not gonna waste vital calories/energy getting to the roots! enough salt can be obtained through the branches withought wasting energy! and of course your food suplies and meat contain salt! also boiling bones of an animal to make a broth has good amount of salt.

    Salt!

Thats great if you are on the coast! But if your inland in an inch situation you are screwed, not like you are going to put 200 pounds of water softener salt in your inch/bob! I've known the several possible ways of obtaing salt prior to my post. I was just curious to see how many actually know how to get it! Best easiest way i for me to get salt is by cutting about 6in long as thick as your thumb hickory tree sticks boiling them in water until all of the water has evaporated, what you get is basically salt. Its brownish black taste like salt but also has its own taste. Try it and see what you think!

    The Dream!

The island sounds fantastic but for a ww3 event i could see it drawing alot of attention! Air to surface missle would be a problem as would a BLU-113 if you were underground!

    Hello from NWA Arkansas

So ive just recently been getting into the whole when S.H.T.F idea of getting survival items. But ive always been an outdoorsman camping hiking hunting fishing. Im on a very limited buget at the moment. So im here to get one of the most esential survival aids, knowledge the best part is its free! I have a good amount of survival knowlege as well. Im also hoping to find alies, other preppers on here in my area! If you have any questions just ask! If your in my area and searching for alies as well be sure to contact me!

    Hello from NWA Arkansas

Thanks for thread jacking me Guys! LOL Im kidding of course! In my mind im more concerd with the unknown extended survival situation. There is alot of talk about three day packs, although that is better than nothing. But to me three days is not a threat or concern for me at all! With a twenty pound pack i can make three days no problem! Thirty pound pack, a week no problem! Im sure many of you could too! So some of the people on here have just a 3 day pack, can you take your 3 day pack and make it for three months with no opurtunities to collect more equipment???????? Im not 100% sure i could but i think i could with a one week pack! Not bragging at all! Im just saying i feel like alot of people are collecting alot of man made gear food and suplies. I think that is great buy as much as your budget allows. But lets say you have enough for a year but you have to abandon all of your stuff permantly! You can only take so much with you in your pack! So my point is do you know how to survive out in the wild with whats in the wild? And for how long? Everyone should know your body needs salt, right? Forget about the salt you have right now, where do you get it out in the wild? Food for thought guys!

Wally world has trauma plates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one told me! Lmao! Just kidding!

    Sleeping Bags

Well what i actually meant was I dont have some gear that i think a person desperatly needs. Such as a nice famepack, water filter, hand gun, at least one week food/emergency food rations. Sleeping bag is not higher on my priority list than these items. Dont get me wrong i dont have a problem spending more money for something of better quality or function on the contrary i try to get the best, but with my limited budget the saying pops in my head. One is better than none!

    Hello from NWA Arkansas

Yeah ive got gear as well but i know my gear isnt the best and not the most reliable! so its starting to bother me to think that my life and my family's life could one day depend on what gear i have. Not to mention my wife thinks that me and other preppers are crazy. That being the case its almost like having sombody working against me........ well maybe not to that extent but she is not helping by no means. Not only that but i have no friends that feel the same so i cant even talk to anyone about it. uhhhh! LOL

    Hand Tools for SHTF

So im sure some or most of you have seen the doomsday preppers on national geographic channel. One of the preppers on there invented or actually reinvented a tool (E-Tool). He called it a crovaul not sure how to spell it, pronounced kro val. So has anyone heard of this tool? Have one? Used one? Know were to buy one? Im not trying to steal your thread DC Matt, i think it would be a useful tool for you and other preppers, survivalists etc.
