    When they close the roads...

I'm not sure about the point of this thread. Are you looking for input or just for people to tell you that an atv is the best off road BOV? Like stated, I think it depends on your location, how far your BOL is, your family size, and SHTF scenarios. You might not laugh about using an animal if the SHTF event is an EMP/CME. Gas availability might be an issue. I saw first hand the gas shortages from Sandy. I do think that ATVs could make a decent BOV. Personally I would rather have a UTV or an SUV or truck with off road capabilities. If you have ATV's and they work for you, go for it. I know a lot of people near me that have them and they are extremely loud. I would think if you are at a point in bugging out when road blocks are in place you might want to use more caution IMO.

I think its a combination of people not having enough time or just moving on. Personally I'm a member of a few sites. I've also been feeling that things are accelerating and having only been prepping for about 2 years. I will say the dollar does not stretch as far as it used to.

    best friend for survival?

You get about a year shelf life on most dog food. You should also store it in a metal trash can or pet smart sells think plastic pet food holders to keep out vermin

    Water storage

I would fill them now and add water treatment. you might not have time right before a threat and could always fill the bathtub bladder. I have used the water bob personally and they work great. If it were me, I would store the rice and beans in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers in five gallon buckets. You can find the food grade buckets for free sometimes from bakeries.

    Auguson Farms buckets

I bought a six packof #10 cans of their brown rice from Sams Club online. Havent tried them yet. Their prices seem good compared to somewhere like Emergency Essentials. I ordered some buckets of white rice from the Ready Store. They showed up a little beat up. How did your pails look condition wise from Auguson farms?

    Maine living

I havent been to maine in a few years, but my grandfather was from there. Lived way up north near the canadian border. Like rod said if you can get away from any close cities and maybe move to a more rural setting. I think a lot of us feel your pain. I dont have any neighbors around me that seem to care at all about being prepared. I think its all over to an extent. There are a lot fewer of us and a lot more of them. Hang in there

SHTF Firearm to compliment my Kel Tec Sub 2000

Ive been considering a Glock 22 and a Sub 2000. As previously stated, if your bugging out, the abililty to limit the differant amounts of ammo and magazines your carrying will be a huge asset. I would also add a .22. I like the 10/22 but dont have one. I have a marlin .22. .22 ammo is cheap and small enough that you could carry a decent amount

    We the People

Im along the same line of thinking. I signed the ones I believed in. If they are going to round us up at least I stood up for what I believe in.

    Prepper Communities

Glad to help. I actually found it on another site. I like the idea behind it, just not sure if it would really work.

    Doomsday Toilet

RV toilet maybe? They make a type that uses a battery and it incinerates the waste. They also make waste bags you could put in your toilet. Just make sure you have a trash barrel with a tight fitting lid for the waste.
  12. LMAO @ snake. Im very old school about storing info. I would rather have paper copies. I thought about a kindle but for me its not the same as holding a book

Prepper Communities might want to try this site. I like the idea behind it, but personally Im not talking to anyone about prepping especially my neighbors. They are more interested in beer and football.
  14. Rapture, a bigger issue in my mind is criminals waiting for no one to be home at those houses and breaking in to steal their guns. I read somewhere that a Ct politician wants all gun owners to be on a site like that to protect the people around them. Like every gun owner is a criminal.
  15. I warned my wife not to tell ANYONE that we have firearms. Or that were prepping in general. As far as Im concerned its no ones business. Im all for helping some family if and when the time comes but they dont need to know the extent of my supplies.
