My dad was in the coast guard durring the 60's. He was actually one of the few that was deployed to Vietnam. He was also stationed in the Keys when all the Cubans were making their big imagration push.

Just wanted to say hey, I have been trying to lay off the technology stuff for awhile. But with all the latest crap going on; the better half wanted me to get back on to see if I could find out anything. Also looking for someone I used to talk to once in awhile on here.

They do just about everything fromm route clearence to security patrols but a scouts main job is recon. Go out find the enemy, get a fix on their location and call in the big guns. A scouts best weapon is a map and radio.

It is truly up to you. Just keep a open mine about what you want to do. I loved my MOS (cavalry scout); I was either deployed or always in the field training. You also have to remember that if you are married and they are going to be stationed with you; how much time will your MOS allow you to be with them. Military life can be hard on families. As others have said someone that has not served does not have the right to trash talk a certain branch ( i support all branches).

Thoughts on Doomsday Preppers & After Armeggedon Shows on NatGeo & History Channel?
WV Scout replied to Crazy Rebel's topic in Television, Movies and Videos
Just finished watching the latest Doomsday Preppers (LOL). The lady stated that she was decended from the Hatfields in virginia. There is a problem with that; the Hatfield and McCoy feud was faught on the West Virginia and Kentucky border. West Virginia was established way before the feud started. Virginia is a very long distance from the Kentucky and West Virginia border. -
I have a mossberg835 that I use for turkey hunting. I was thinking about using it as a home defense shotgun but still retaining its use as turkey gun (duel role). Question is does anyone have any information on using 00 buck in a Xfull choke?

I just want to say that I do not have any problems with those that did not serve and I have always had respect for them. What Iam trying to get across is that some of the people in this club did not serve (social members); does that give them the right to put vets down and say that they have no opinion and what they say does not matter. Yes everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.
-
Not sure if anyone has ran into this before but this is my first time. I was at a veterans club (supposed to be) but most people (including the bartender) said that the veterans have no say in this club and that the social members run everything and thats the way it should be. As a veteran I think this is awfull and I walked out; and this is a national organization. It just goes to show how everything in this country has gone down hill. If it was not for the veterans what would we have. I say a soldiers pray every night for those serving (especially 19d Scouts). I just think it's a shame how some forget. Maybe we should make a seperate thread or a forum for our veterans past and present.

I have a couple of Savage rifles. I have been using them for years and have not had any problems with them. One is a Savage 111(.270) and the other is a Savage 93R(17HMR).

Well decision time has come and gone. I have shot both the Glock and the M&P. I have went with the Glock 19 Gen.4; it fit better in my hand and I also shot better with it . I have already put 200rds. through it. There is only one problem; the wife wants one now and she keeps taking mine to shoot it.
-
I would like to thank everyone for their input. lots of good input; I will let everyone know what I decide later.
-
Best advice make sure your barrel is stamped for 5.56/.223; that would solve all the problems.
-
I have saved up some jinga. I figured I would by a new handgun; but Iam trying to decide on a Glock or a Smith & Wesson M&P. Mind you Iam looking at 9mm (not interested in any other caliber just to cover it). Looking for some opinions.
