Fuel in vehicle how much do u have?

Always use the half tank rule here for all the vehicles. Have tried to stress this to the kids to do the same. The kids aren't kids anymore but I make this point to them because they're approx. 60 miles away and they're aware of my SHTF rule. If the SHTF get here! If you're not here in 36hrs stay put, I'm coming for you. If I haven't shown up in 72hrs, you're on your own. I hate the city!

    Something interesting. Information.

Moral breaker, population killer. B'Gs point about a man made EMP or even an event from the sun would knock us "practically" back to the stone age for a time as far as modern convience's are concerned. Not totally, but partially. Anyone read the books Lights Out or One Second After? Talk about chaos!

    Something interesting. Information.

Hmmm, and to think a few thought I'd really gone off the deep end when I invested in mil-spec NBC suits and Advantage 1000 masks and extra filters. I guess there'd be some survivors! Makes me think of The Book of Eli...Anyone see that movie? Christ!

    CHat feature for logged-in members

Yea, I kinda made a poll about this, and asked who'd like to see a chat feature? It went by the wayside quick. Just as well. I also thought it'd be cool but after rethinking it, "NOT". The IM works just as well and you can converse with as many as you'd like.

    Compass... whats your best?

Here ya go Vis. Mil-spec issue compass. If you shoot an asmuth and miss 1 degree it could put you off a great deal at a distance of 1/2 mile or so. Specially if you're trying to find a cache you've stashed. Also a big difference in North and True North orintation. A good one runs anywhere from $60-$80 bucks. http://www.amazon.com/Mil-Spec-Tritium-Illuminated-Aluminum-Military/dp/B0006YXWN2

    Waterproofing for Boots

The best stuff I've found to waterproof leather boots is the liquid Kiwi stuff in a glass bottle with that little cotton ball applicator that's attached to the lid. You just cover the boot(s) with it and whatever you do set them outside. The smell from it is herendous! This in my opinion is the best there is as far as ease of application and actually working. No mess. This stuff works! I've used it for years. The mink oil is good for softening the leather. Yet again, this stuff is great and highly recomend it! It probably won't help boats though.... 7. Don't have that particular one, got a CCrane Solar that works great though.

    Sooo, rumor has it that

The government is building underground bunkers. They're called DUMBs. Look it up. I've evidently got to much time on my hands so I've been loafing, but this stuff is way cool. In doing my favorite thing, researching and probably causing trouble. Get a load of some of this stuff. By the way, Satriani rocks! Sooo, back to the bunkers! You tube vids of government bunkers in places like Denver and other places in the U.S. and worldwide. An increase of 300% of the purchasing of MREs by the government. No offense intended to anyone who isn't, but I'm a Christian. First a bible verse. Revelations 6: 13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains. Odd it'd say every man hid in the dens in the rocks and mountains?! I'll put this here also. Who knows, maybe it's all a farce? Maybe it isn't? It'd be something if there were something to it all. I was just thinking that mabe there was something to all this planetary alignment stuff and the earths crust shifting.

    The term 'Survivalist'

Bwaaahahahaha!!!!! cough, choke, cough wheeez.........Strangelove huh? That put me a bit more in the mind of Col. Klink or maybe Artie Johnson peeking round the bush at Lily on Rowan and Martins Laugh-in. You're awright Capt. LMAO I still think someone told Neil Strauss in the book Emergency, that being a "survivalist" was just finding another way to die, or prolonging it or something to that effect. Maybe he said it, I can't remember shat anymore!

    Indivdual stored pkg"s

Don't know if I'm wrong on this, first time I've tried it. I was wondering if anyone has tried to store individual pkgs in mylar bags and containers. I picked up some boxes of Chex Mix at Sams. The boxes contains (36) 1.75oz bags. I've left them in the bags and put them in mylar bag and 5 gal. food grade containers and was wondering if this packaging method would cause any demize to the product and if anyone other than myself has done this? BTW, the 36 small bags fit like this perfectly as mentioned in above storage method. Just hope they keep. Yes, they have an Oxy absorber and hand warmer in each container. The expire date was 31Dec.2014 on the pkg. What do you think? I was thinking of snacks for the kids that could be here or anyone else for that matter. I took into consideration that it would be salty but I will be good on water. Pardon the house slippers, lol........ The floor is a little cool down here.

Raw honey is also good for allergies. If you get honey that's from a local beekeeper. Got that from an older gent years ago. Started using local honey and my allergy symptoms became less and less annoying. I also am not allergic to bees. I don't know how this would effect someone with a bee allergy. Some guys I know would die from a sting. Dunno if they eat honey or not. A question I need to ask one of them. I keep several quarts from a local beekeeper on hand all the time. LOL also Femvet. I've learned from experience, believe me!

    water filters and beef jerky

Don't know if this will help Capt, but here is one link for a homemade gravity filter. There are others on the right side of the screen. However this dude did go through the motions as to what size holes and all to drill in the bucket(s). I have a Big Berkey system myself I got from the scratch and dint sale from Berkey. The filters are what's so expensive.

No probs here with sugar issues as of yet Snake. Doesn't mean someone else wouldn't have a problem though. One bad thing; being on the run is one thing guess that's okay for a pick up, but that sugar will make you crash eventually. As for drinking Snake, I have Tang, lotsa instant coffee, powdered milk, Propel singles, Koolaid and CountryTime. Vis, I went through an escapade with the little woman on Honey crystalizing. It's BAD! She said. No it isn't dear. It's BAD I tell you! No it isn't! Well why the white stuff? It's sugar.. It's bad and I'm not eating it! Okay fine, I'll eat it on my biscuit! I set "submersed" the honey jar in hot water which intern dissolved the white stuff, "sugar". Why didn't you tell me you had a new jar of honey? She asked while eating it. I didn't have the heart or the gonads to tell her it was the same jar.....Well ,,,, I coulda been killed ya know!

first thing you would buy for a bug out bag

Capt, I'm generally never without my pocket knife. A clipon Benchmade griptilian or a 560 Browning. True a survival knife is important but I'd rather have a means of obtaining drinking water first. Yes I do have a Kabar that was a latter purchase.

first thing you would buy for a bug out bag

Ditto snake. I've always got a pocket knife. 1st. Water purification means. 1 1/2. A means of having fire. 2nd backpackers stove of some kind. 3rd. Dehydrated food of some kind. I know, the first! And that's how I'd do it or done it. JMO dr

    Something to ponder

I mean look at all the mega issues facing Humanity: •Economic Collapse : Fragilities in Earth’s global economy have tipped the Empire into conditions not seen since the 1930s Great Depression. Fascism and total war came from that last time. •Peak Oil : Petroleum has powered Humans for almost 100 years; today, Humans are reaching a permanent peak in oil production against rising demand. Indeed, many wars have already been fought and a serious crisis is developing. •Global Water Crisis : During the past 50 years the Human population has nearly tripled, while industrial pollution, unsustainable agriculture, and poor planning have decreased the overall water supply. •Species Extinction : Certain species that Humans depend upon for their food supply are going extinct; if numbers fall too low Humans may face extinction themselves. Think GMOs. •Rapid Climate Change : While the debate rages on about the causes of climate change, global warming is an empirical fact. The problem is both a curse and blessing, in that people from different Earth cultures will either have to work together or face mutual destruction. •Population, disease, hunger, and resources: There’s actually room for more Humans, but not with the current social and economic structures and beliefs. Demands on diminishing resources by more Humans spells catastrophe. •Radioactive waste, nuclear weapons, and core meltdowns: Over the last 50 years, Humans have accumulated thousands of tons of the most toxic stuff in the Universe. Humans aim weapons of this stuff at each other ON THE SAME PLANET, believing they could fire and it wouldn’t affect them too. •Nanotechnology: The most dangerous technology humans have yet come up with. Coupled with some kind of artificial intelligence or ability to reproduce, this could spell the end of biological life on Earth and nearby planets. Grey goo (alternatively spelled gray goo) is a hypothetical end-of-the-world scenario involving molecular nanotechnology in which out-of-control self-replicating robots consume all matter on Earth while building more of themselves, a scenario known as ecophagy ("eating the environment"). Self-replicating machines of the macroscopic variety were originally described by mathematician John von Neumann, and are sometimes referred to as von Neumann machines. The term grey goo was coined by nanotechnology pioneer Eric Drexler in his 1986 book "Engines of Creation", stating that "we cannot afford certain types of accidents." Ya think? •War and militarism: Coupled with extreme weaponry that is widely distributed, these are the most polluting, destructive, inhumane practices on Earth. Why would one think they could begin a nuclear war and it not have an effect on them? Last but not least in any way: An Asteriod, "what if", talk about extinction. It happened once. Anyone ever watch Population 0? I saw an episode last night. How much longer can we rape the earth before she shakes off the parasites? I've just put out some usless drivel, haven't I? LOL These scenario's are all possible. I'd made reference to Snake about this in another thread somewhere. All this disaster potential on Earth right now is enough to drive someone nuts. I’m going to get something good to eat and think about it later.
  24. They were talking about the damaging effect of a CME, and the sunspots on the sun. Blew me away they'd even mentioned it...
  25. Thanks U Wolf. I missed that. Got it..... Guess I was thinking about all that scotch and those cigars. LOL
