    About a 12 gauge ...

For home defense I use 00 Buckshot. I am sure you will get many answers though.
  2. I think it is good that the real heavy lifting will be left to congress. I do not think the assault weapons ban and the 10 round magazine limitation will make it through the house. Here is a link where Ruger sends a letter to all of your representatives on your behalf: http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/takeAction.html. I already filled one out for myself and recommend that everyone does the same.

    AR-15 Magazines

If I could find pmags that weren't selling for $100 bucks a piece I would buy those instead! I just can't find any and have few 30 round mags. I would rather have steel 30 round mags than none. But, yes I would completely agree that pmags would be preferred.

    AR-15 Magazines

Just thought I would give you guys a heads up. I was having trouble finding 30 round mags and I am somewhat concerned that a ban may actually make it through. After much research I found some that are in stock and seem to be good mags. http://www.themakogroup.com/product_p/earm30%20w.htm I purchased 5 mags just for peace of mind!! Also, coupon code "arfcom" gives you a slight discount and coupon code "free-grnd" gives free shipping on orders over $100. Both codes can be used on the same order. Just thought I would share my findings with anyone who may be interested.

Thoughts on Tauras PT709 Slim 9mm?

I have a 9mm slim and love it. I have yet to have any problems with it at all. I was deciding between that and the ruger lc9 when I made the purchase and the slim just felt way better in my hand. It is so nice to carry hardly even know it is there. I am really glad I made the purchase because now I actually carry way more than I used to.

Advice on entry level hunting rifle.

Thank you for all the input this thread helped me out a lot and I have realized they are all pretty good choices. I have decided to go with the Savage 111 now I just need to find the best price!

Advice on entry level hunting rifle.

Thank you for the input so far. I am happy to hear the good reviews on the savage because that is what a tend to be leaning toward at the moment. I guess some of my more specific concerns are the fact that the Marlin is the only one of the three that does not have a free floating barrel or a detachable mag. Can anyone speak more to the pros and cons of these two features? Again, thanks for the input so far!
  8. Taking my first leap into hunting and looking to get a budget all around rifle to use. I have decided on a 30-06 and I have narrowed it down to three rifles: Savage 111 Marlin X7 Ruger American Any thoughts on are experiences with the rifles above would be appreciated. While I am new to hunting I am not new to guns and have been a recreational shooter for sometime.

    Mosin Nagant Madness

Thank you that helps clear things up a lot! I just wanted to make sure there was not any huge differences between them.

    Mosin Nagant Madness

I was wondering if someone with a little more knowledge about the Mosin Nagant can help explain something for me. I am planing on purchasing one from AIM surplus but need to know the difference in models and what one would be the best to choose. The choice is between 1891/30 Mosin for $90, 1891/30 Hex receiver for $100, and a 91/30 Laminate for $100. Any light you guys could shed on the difference would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello!

I can't speak too much on the job market still being a student and all. I have already arranged a paid summer internship in the area though. Also, a few of my friends who graduated and had been looking for jobs were recently hired which is a good sign I guess!

    Hello!

My house borders one of those swamps... I would rather have that be the case than more neighbors!!

    Help for a novice.

I am glad someone is going through the same thing I am. I think once I get the 10 things down I am going to hit amazon and read lots and lots of reviews and try to get good value items, if that is even possible.

    Help for a novice.

Thank you for the in depth response, all really great info. I guess the reason I am obsessing with a list is because I keep meaning to get started and then never do because I become a bit overwhelmed. If i get 10 concrete things for each list that I can just go out and get. At least I will have those 10 things rather than constantly just trying to figure out what I should get. This way I will have a base that I can start building on. Again, thank you for all the great responses!
