TEOTWAWKI events and how they happen

aside from man made events this one kinda struck my eye, in 2006 there was a warning issued out by NASA that a CME(coronal mass ejection) from the sun that would hit in the near future then in 2010 they resent the warning saying look this thing will hit in 2012 or 2013. in 1959(maybe 1859 i dont remember) i believe canada was hit by a small CME and it cut power to 100 of thousands of people for 9 hours they said the CME overloaded the wires so bad they melted. essentially what this thing is, is a GIANT plasma ball that hits our magnetic field and supposedly this one flip whichever part of the field it hits to the other side and overload power plants and shut down the gird worldwide. obviously we know no one can accurately predict the coming of such a giant sun driven event but still quite possible.

    What happened to Survival?

Sharing isnt caring its dangerous when it comes to telling your prep stuff and defence stuff because you become a high value target...BUT giving tips on the other hand is a completely different story...tips IMHO help people figure out ways to over come their current problems, also war and survival are interlinked....look at africa...rebels are causing war to survive and if thr US finds themselves in a situation like the huge CME then people will band together and as they do start to run out of food and therefore have cause to attack other people which yes it isnt a WAR as we know it but it is conflict so being prepared for both things is good bc if you dont have defence then your hard work to stay alive will be wasted in the long term

    What happened to Survival?

I think you have a very good point. Survival isnt fun in no way shape or form, but maybe instead of saying im getting ticked off at these people who really dont know what they are talking about, maybe you should say "hey this wouldnt be a real survival need how about looking into this(insert disired thing)" so that you can steer them in the right direction for when and if SHTF. I also regonize i am one of the people who is a gamer BUT do have actual tactical contributions that can be made to furthering the survival of my self and family along with anyone with a topic on here that i see that i could contribute to.

    EWS: Early Warning Systems/alarms

If i could describe it better it would make sense....but it seems that you are talking about something im not that is speaking of the first part of your message, talking about internet and whatnot. This is a self contained DIY SHTF system, which i agree has a possibility of failure...as do all things for SHTF scenarios, but later on in you message i see the light idea being aplicable but im trying to make a semi long distance system...like for outer perimeter stuff this would also be used in conjunction with watches and stuff like that....but ive figured it out and as soon as i get a working prototype i will post a vid which i hope will explain some stuff better than I

    EWS: Early Warning Systems/alarms

Called hobby shop They only sell a single freq transmitter and reciever So that wouldnt work bc multiple ones couldnt be used bc of the same freq bc all the locator lights would go off and you wouldnt b able to pin point break in

    EWS: Early Warning Systems/alarms

i do see your point, but my problem with useing a unit with a speaker on it instead of closer to people is that maybe were sleeping and it isnt loud enough to wake us and even if we had a dog still dont guarantee anything either because maybe hes just barking at the wind. also i have seen the things at hobby stores and i guess the "i wanna do this on my own" mindset kicked in and didnt think to look into that and with the low power output that will be discharged when and if ever activated a C battery or 9v will be suitable for the unit and a few solar boards for house unit...then again maybe i am over thinking this but...thank you for your input and ima goto local hobbystore (30mi away) and look.

    An Ethical Issue

hmm...problem what if a person is coming for help and hits one? granted when SHTF people will probably be thinking how to steal from you but there are those few who will be looking for help from other well prepared people. but I think booby traps or EWS is a good idea preferably i would use my home made EWS(which i am currently about to make a prototype).

    NUCLEAR Reactor Meltdown

Ya man, eastern side USA is screwed beyound belief....but see my thing is...what if i were to relocate and it turn out cme affects were jus for a wee bit of time not for extended times And i dont wanna wait til its to late

    NUCLEAR Reactor Meltdown

Ya ive been looking at wind direction maps and noticed most areas that are above the reactors still would get hit bc of wind directions hit reactors n shoot up the states....so havin a problem finding a good bug out point...but i realize time frame but if cme is big enough then it may be down quite some time
  13. ok so i was thinking how about making your own alarm systems (ex diy trip wire on youtube) and putting those as an outside perimeter just like the guy on nat geo did but instead of a wee little speaker that wont even reach my house and even if it did wouldn't really alert me if i was sleeping....why not hard wire it to a switch board with it connected to a light and speaker to alert you someone or thing has intruded and which section its on so you know where to direct you defensive systems. PROBLEM: A: the amount of wire it would take to run individual alarms even if they were 10yard wide trip alarms still alot of ground to cover with enough of a cushion to still have a good distance away from attackers, my solution was to make it wireless...but haven't really figured out a energy effective way seeing as theses run on 9V bats they arent built for more than it has on a base product....my only solution was to use radios that are built for each other(like a one channel if at all possible) and wire it so when its tripped it sends a signal to the reciever in the house which switches on the light of the designated area and a alarm speaker to alert. any ideas or comments pos or neg appreciated...just please refrain from over negative stuff

    NUCLEAR Reactor Meltdown

ok so say 2012 we have a coronal mass ejection...power grid goes down...well that leaves the nuclear reactors across america and world alike...without power which means no cooling which then we will see what happened with japans nuclear reactors...but say we dont get the grid back online before they go to blow....heres a pic of how many are near you and a approx safe distance away from the reactors http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv299/Crims0n1213/photo.jpg IMO i believe if the supposed CME happens and will be as big as somehwat prediected....the reactors will blow and if they do i wanna be as far away as i possibly can. SO with the shown picture it looks as tho if this happens bug outs would be westward (for me at least because i live in Kentucky) any other thoughts?
