    Battery Standardization

This is something that crossed my mind as I was get things together for my BOB. We talk about standardizing our weapons platforms and what munitions you can get hold of post SHTF. So shouldn't the same be said of our flashlights, radios, etc. Personally i don't want to have to pack around 5 different types of batteries. IMHO C and D cels take up to much room that can be used for more important supplies. AA, AAA, and cr123's seem to be the most popular for flashlights and small hand held equipment. Just wondering if anyone else was thinking of this or if I was just having a stupid moment.

    Bug-out ammo question

If you would have to BUG-OUT on foot. How much ammo would you be able to carry for each weapon due to weight and what would your means of transporting it be? Most of us are using a 3-4 gun platform: Rifle Shotgun Handgun 22cal. rifle or handgun (optional) all calibers and gauges are based on what u personally use as your bug out weapons.

Solar storm heading towards earth (NOT A DRILL)

what exactly is going to happen depends on which article you read. the only thing they all agree on are the pretty lights in the sky. just another example of the quality journalism in this country each twists how they see fit.

    your 550

ricks i understood your point. mine was that my 550 like duct tape will be my last resort if nothing else is avaliable. agreed gardening twine i killer useful, cheap and always keep it around. growing up around the farm i learned to appreciate the uses of twine, baling wire and a good pair of fence pliers.

    your 550

It's like duct tape you dont think about what you need it for. You just know you will need it cause Murphy is aways sneeking around.

  14. look into guineas all the same advantages as chickens but are killer watch dogs. Several of my aunt and uncles had them. They seemed to be more quiet than the chickens unless something was around. Here's a link if you want a little info on them.
  15. Awake It's the caffeine in the grounds it speeds up the heart rate and they dont like it. Amazing what you can learn when your daughter becomes a vet tech. The old dogs still learning. lol

Where Do They Get The Money

I know there are others on here in the same boat but being without a job makes prepping tough. It can be done. It's the best time to get the small dollar items you overlook normally. Like Awake said an extra can of beans here and there. The extra box of band-aids you put off before because you were look at the bigger things when you had the money. I never realized the number small things i had put off til now. I manage $15-$20 a month for items and consider myself extremely lucky.

    dooms day prepers tonight

These clowns are on national TV showing off and telling thier plans. What happened to "being the grey man"? The family stocking up on booze as a barter item plain told the cashier why they were buying so much. AS far as the guy shooting his thumb off why in the h#ll would you have your thumb over the muzzle to start with. "You can't fix stupid, here's your sign, and you might be a redneck" all rolled into one. And yes i want to know where that money tree is growing too would love to be a full time prepper. Ok I'm done ranting and raving sorry guys

    On the Subject of Religion.

Not to be disrespectful dk564. But i'm curious as to how you intend to survive after TSHF or something worse happens. Since in your opinion a BOB and it's contents are not needed. I will add this the first thing that went in my BOB was a Bible vacuum sealed to protect it.

    Anyone use this product??

awake You have just been promoted to head of RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT congratulations. lol Does sound like a good product though. Would make a good addition to the kids BOB. Should they get seperated from you and get a little panicky and need to get a fire started.

Just make sure the hands are at the correct time of day in respect to the sun since the watch is broke. Make a couple practice tries with it checking against your compass. It won't be dead accurate but it will give you general direction.
